6″-8″ so far and it sounds like we could get 6″-8″ more around here. It is December 3rd and I’m already tired of moving snow, not to mention what it will do to the thin ice sheets Anyway, I just had to whine about it a little. Who got spared?

Spared? I don’t think anyone is getting spared. The good thing is we got some bitter temps right behind it. The bad may be that the ice might be a little inconsistent and not clear when all is said and done. I just hope there isn’t a little warm streak after this arctic blast.
Accuweather shows highs below freezing after all this, so that is good news.
December 3, 2013 at 10:08 am #1368322We have less than 2″ here in Eau Claire so far. Very heavy and wet though. I was hoping we would get more ice built up before this happened.
December 3, 2013 at 10:11 am #1368324Yeah, we were on good streak up here of dry weather to create a nice base. I wouldn’t even mind the precipt had it stayed below freezing.
December 3, 2013 at 10:31 am #1368330Sounds like it will be ridable soon and I like hearing that!
Hopefully they get a bunch in northern Sconny and it stays cold so I can sled in Dec.December 3, 2013 at 10:34 am #1368331Hasn’t even snowed down in Winona yet! We got a bit of slushy stuff for about 30 min last night but it couldn’t even be classified as snow. Anything that did come down is gone!
December 3, 2013 at 10:51 am #1368334On the plus side, I picked a good week to be a stay-at-home dad. My kids are diggin’ it.

Last years first good snowfall made for some great dayfishing, and with this moving through the shore river ice is busting up and going to make for hopefully an awesome night of river fishing. Pressure dropped and is steady and bring the snow baby, bring it on!

We are getting the snow and trails should open December 16th.

My map? I don’t work for the NWS.4″-6″ according to the National Weather Service, who I trust more than the weather alarmists. The map doesn’t say if that is the total or total accumulation.
Here’s the rest of their story…
Quote:
A Winter Storm will affect the region late this afternoon through Wednesday night. Snow, heavy at times, will move across central and northern Minnesota as well as northwest Wisconsin Wednesday. Strong northwest winds will generate near blizzard conditions in western Minnesota by midday Wednesday. Very cold air will follow the storm and will last into the weekend.
December 3, 2013 at 2:33 pm #1368374This totally sucks. i’ve been snowplowing in Duluth since 8am this morning and had to take a break. we have 4-5′ snowdrifts everywhere and it’s looking like another foot of snow through wednesday before the cold front rolls into the northland. I’m up on top of the hill near Mesaba and Rice Lake Rd and have been in the heavy snowfall since about 3pm yesterday. hard to get an accurate accumulation on the snowfall, but i’d have to say more than a foot.
For all of you with the minimal snowfall, get out and enjoy that ice while you can!!
Cheers

Anyway 0 snow here in the Metro so far compared to the foot or so currently accumulating up north!
huskerduPosts: 592December 3, 2013 at 4:28 pm #1368405Its good for the for the people that love to ride ! Early snow in MN is the best thing for our MN Sled manufactures not so good for the people that want to walk out to there favorite areas. If we get some COLD weather we will all win!
Jmsteele187Posts: 30December 3, 2013 at 9:04 pm #1368461Just be glad you guys aren’t getting the rain that we’re getting here in ohio. We’ve had fairly cold ice making weather for about a week, then the last couple days have been in the 40’s. We got rain today and it will be in the 50’s tomorrow with a chance of more rain. It won’t get cold again till Friday, but after that we should be making ice. I’m still holding on to the hope that I can be on ice before Christmas.
