Bad Fisherman? Bad Dad? Or resourceful?????

So I am fishing w/ my 4 year old girl last night. About 2 hours in she tells me that she needs to go potty. OK, we are near Hidden Falls on Pool 2 and it has a bathroom. But it is 200 yards or so from the river. That mean at least 15 minutes of leaving the boat on shore unattended w/ lots of people around (some shady-if you know what I mean).

Then it occurs to me. “Honey-we have a potty right in the boat!” “Really????” she says. So I hit the pump and open the live well that is in the bench of my 85 Lund Angler. “See” I say. She gets a big smile on her face and goes to work.

Now, time to wipe. No paper. Check for my old general clean up T-shirt rag in the front-not there (wife used it to wipe off the stroller the day before and I guess it never made it back). So I had her use her undies, then she went commando for the rest of the night.

I have heard of people using live wells before. But I guess it is a little weird in my case. You see my boat has only been on Pool 2 in the year since I bought it. So I have never had a fish in there. So can I still even call it a live well? Or is it now a potty until the 1st fish gets in there?????

I agree, you did what you had to doo doo.

I’m sure I’ll be doing it with these little munchkins soon enough.

    You have a lot to look forward to Blue;
    Daaadd, he touched me.
    She touched me first.
    I’m hungry!
    Are we there yet?
    I gotta go potty!
    I wanna go home!
    Uh Ohhhhhhh!
Enjoy them, because it doesn’t last long.

I’m just glad we have a big boat. I can put one on each end.

I would call it resorceful as well. Many times my girl needs to go and we just lean over the side. (now this is #1 not #2) Yup, I do feel like a redneck at the moment but I am still on my spot and fishing soon. As stated above you do what you gotta do.

ps. TP is on board at all times, just in case

I carry one of those little potty training portable potties when my wife or daughter come along. They are a little on the small side, but take up very little space and set a little lower for privacy!!! Wife finds it a bit degrading, but it beats getting posion ivy or itchweed on an island!!!
T.P. in a water tight container is definetly a must!

It’s good to get them trained while they’re young. I tried to get my daughter to use a gallon jug one time (big hole cut into the side of course) and it was a no go. Had to go into shore. Very resourcefull.
