My son is 11 and is just between a size 6 & 7 shoe. Trying to find a winter boot has been a pain because youth sizes typically go up to 6 and adult size down to 8. I’d like to find size 7 so he has a little room to grow considering I am willing to spend money on a quality boot to keep his feet warm.

He really wants camo boots and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to talk him into something else, but any suggestions are welcome.

Anyone have suggestions for a boot that will fit him and keep his feet warm. He tends to get cold fast so I want to stay away from the cheap off-brand ones. We’ve tried Kamuks in the past but have not had good luck with warmth.

I like the Irish Setter Rutmaster boot. They are a rubber boot. I have both insulated 1200 gram and non-insulated and like them both. I wear my 1200 gram ones all winter long. They keep your feet warm and dry. I did check their website and they do have them in size 7 and camo.

My impression of the Kamik brand is that it is a generic version of Baffin. Baffin is the brand I wear, have been on the same pair for about 9 years, and wouldn’t look elsewhere when I need a new pair. I believe they are the warmest consumer brand around.

Even these boots won’t keep your feet warm if you don’t wear the proper socks. You MUST wear a sick liner and you MUST wear a MEDIUM weight sock. A light weight sock may suffice as well. Too heavy of a sock, and you lose insulation value of the boot. They are very well insulated so you want to take advantage of it as much as possible.

Icebreaker boot cover for sitting with some hand warmers in there. For hiking, feet should stay warm. I get cold feet ofter. I use the Thermacell heated insole. I have often considered these covers.

on that note, I have the arctic shields which pack down a lot nicer than the boot blankets to the point where I can put them in pockets. I’d recommend them to anyone.
