In the market for a new one.

Any that people really like or ones that I should avoid?

Would like to keep it under $200.

My only advice is to spend some money on one. I bought one on sale for under $100 and it is worthless.

I am using a $60 one, works perfectly. Have done ducks, fish, meat, vegis, all sorts of stuff. Even some fishing lures for resale.

Biggest advice I can give you is BUY QUALITY BAGS! The bags are the most important part, one little pinhole and your sealed product is ruined. I used some cheap bags this summer and after a couple weeks in the freezer the bags had air in them. I put them under water and squeezed, the seals were fine but there were small holes in the bag itself.

I have the game sealer from food saver and it works just fine. Never had problems with the food saver brand bags or rolls. It will not keep up with processing deer meat. The sealer strip will get to hot and shut off but that is after a lot of use one bag after another with no break. A commercial one would more than likely fix that problem but it is not need for personal use.

I would recommend the game saver it will do what you want. I’m happy with it

I have the Walmart $60 sealer and it works great. I don’t use it for big volume but a half dozen bags at a time it works great.

X2. Designed for repetitive sealing and does a dandy job.

The comments on quality bags is right on too.

What state are you in? I can find out who is a local ARY dealer for you.

For anyone that has used a foodsaver game units, it’s a lot better. Better pump, seal, drain trough, and sealing options. The vac master 350 will cost a little more, but worth every penny.

Bags, that is where most people are getting ripped off. I am appalled at seeing what most bags sell for. It’s crazy. Compared to foodsaver bags, VacMaster has heavier mil, full mesh, Double the quantity for about a dollar less a box

    Foodsaver

You can get the foodsaver bags at kohl’s for a better price when you get the discount coupons weekly. 20 to 30 % off on them.

+1 – Cabelas had some sort of deal years ago if you bought so many $’s worth of stuff you got a free one. Not sure what model it is but for my low/med use it works great. Think I have had it 10+ years and it is still going.

We have the Food Saver game saver and the strange thing is we were having all kinds of issues with the Food Saver brand bags. The brand that seems to work the best for me is the brand Fleet Farm carries, I can’t remember what the brand is, but it’s the “other” brand, not the Food Saver originals.

Maybe I just got a bad batch of bags, but totally agree with the comment that the bags are a make or break.

For saving fish fillets, these things are just awesome. Pack them flat so there is no air between layers of fillets and vac pack the last a long, long time.

We buy all our meat at the discount clubs in big packs and then break it down and vac-pack it.

Weston Pro. No need to worry about juices not letting your bags seal.

I have a Cabela’s model. I do fish but usually only a few bags at a time. I have did large amounts of panfish a few times with no issues. I buy roll type bags so I can make any size bag I want.

Cabela’s brand works great. Especially if you go higher end models. You can probably find one on sale this time of year also.
