I’m dump-founded that I learned something the other day about which side you fill your gas tank from. On your gauge in your car or truck there is a little gas pump with a arrow showing you which side the cap is on. I’m 63 years old and I did not know that. One of my sons pointed it out to me. Gosh I have had up to 5 different auto all at one time and would forget which side to use. I would always ask the wife and get her help. I just can not believe that I have never hear about it before.

At least you informed be before I was that age. I didn’t know that.
November 1, 2013 at 8:10 pm #1203430I agree those indicators are a nice thing. I won’t buy a vehicle with the gas fill anywhere but the drivers side. But, when you rent as many cars as I do those idiot pictures come in handy.
November 1, 2013 at 8:10 pm #1203431My pay attention to nothing mechanical wife pointed that out to me about two years ago when I was stopping to fill her car and didn’t know what side it was on either….
mike icePosts: 101November 1, 2013 at 11:39 pm #1203453I just heard this last week also, don’t feel alone.
And Only one of my vehicles has it. Neat idea.ArtPosts: 439November 2, 2013 at 12:24 am #1203459Same age. Thanks. Made me look a little a smarter. Went out and checked first. It’s there. Had a family get to gather tonight and I showed it to my smart a. son in law, one I have to call when I have trouble on pc. He knows everything but that one got him. Feel so good I might have another drink.
November 2, 2013 at 12:35 am #1203462Very handy when you rent a car and have to fuel up in a hurry on way back to airport!!!
November 2, 2013 at 1:17 am #1203469They should all be on the drivers side. Save a lot of jockeying around at the single lane gas stations.
November 2, 2013 at 1:24 am #1203471I’m sitting at a gas station in Lincoln trying to fill my rental. I can’t get the lid open to that gas cap. I’m looking for the lever all over. Finally after 10 minutes I give up. I tell the rental place to charge me.
A few trips later I get a similar car. Once again I’m dumbfounded at the gas station. Ticked off I hit the lid. Its flippin spring loaded. Pops open.
acafisherman19Posts: 105November 2, 2013 at 2:30 am #1203475I just started driving this summer and my dad pointed it out to me, so I’ll have my whole driving time ahead of me to use i t! It is a very nice feature, though.
November 2, 2013 at 3:12 am #1203485All my vehicles are on drivers side EXCEPT my boat.
I generally double pump and have to stretch a hose across my boat.November 2, 2013 at 4:49 am #1203488I’m 52 and when I was a kid a lot of the tanks were behind the license plate. One of the few things I remember from the 70’s…
mike icePosts: 101November 2, 2013 at 5:16 am #1203489I remember those gas caps behind the license plate, good ole days.
Doesn’t the new Escape have a different gas cap or none at all?November 2, 2013 at 10:59 am #1203497Quote:

I dont know about the Escape but the 2010 and up Ford Fusion has no gas cap, instead a spring loaded flap.
November 2, 2013 at 12:42 pm #1203500Is it an arrow? Michelle once tried telling me whichever side the pump handle was on the little gas pump icon was the side your gas cap was on. I thought that was good to know until I discovered it was not true of my truck gauge.

When I was a lad Mom had a 1957 Olds…..The gas cap was behind a door just under the driver side taillight…it would drive the pump jockeys crazy
This was when they still pumped the gas for you, checked the oil and some would even wash your windshield !
All this for .35 a gallonNovember 2, 2013 at 1:59 pm #1203505Quote:

I remember all that as well, that’s why they were called service stations. You would drive up and the bell would ring and they’d come runnin.

$10.00 would fill the tank AND take you and your sweetie to a movie and dinner.
That’s what it was like!
