Just a heads up for those interested: Scheels in Eau Claire has some Humminbird 998 SI’s left at the sale price of $999.99. That is a screaming deal. They are the regular, not HD, units. From my understanding, the only difference is the HDs have a more sunlight readable screen.

Does anyone know that actual data of how much faster this processor is than the 997????

No exact data here. I have been in two different boats with the said units on each boat on the same lake this summer. When zoomed in and running in the mid 30’s and on up. There was a noticeable difference between the units in their abilities to keep up with the mapping detail.
Now that I am thinking of it , 998 might have been a HD unit. Not sure how much of a difference that might make.

That would be a great deal, if I would not have upgraded my boat with 898hd si this spring, and I paid more than $999 for my 898 by the way.
