Can anyone give me a measurement of a Polaris 400 or 500 Sportsman ATV? I need total width and length to see if I actually have room to store it where I want to.

    Many thanks.

Cant give you exact measurements but roughly 4′ wide and 6’6″ long, mine used to fit in my 94 Chevy shortbox with the tailgate up….

    Google search specs

    83 x 48 x 48″ (210.8 x 121.9 x 121.9 cm)

As noted, like my Yamaha may fit in a 6’6″ box, the fenders and rack hang over back some.

Perfect. Many thanks guys. Have to make sure she’ll fit in the shed and can get through the door before I pull the trigger on one.

Appreciate it, but a new machine isn’t in the cards budget wise.

Lots of good, low hour units out there used 3 times a year for weekend trail rides. It amazes me the pimped out terrain-conquering machinery that guys own just to drive it down a gravel path 150 miles per year.

Honestly, it’s terrific when you ask an ATV seller if the winch works and he says, “What winch?”

Well, that hook thingy right up in the front…

Dang, I wanted a used one (cause I’m cheap) but everything I looked at was $4K and beat up. Good luck

Depends on what you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to travel. I’m looking at about 10-12 year old units. What age are you trying to find and for what price?

Like boats, it looks to me to be as much or more about when then where. Now looks to me to be the the ATV equivilent of the CrazyTime that hits the boat buying market every year between April 1 and the beginning of June. I love selling during CrazyTime, but I know some guys that almost died from EBBF (extreme boat buying frustration).

On Craigslist I noticed the pace picked way, way up starting the first of October. Hello hunting season. Units that had been sitting out there since August getting posted and reposted suddenly disappeard. Nothing decent in the metro that’s roughly priced right lasts even a day now.

I’ll wait it out and see when I think CrazyTime starts to slack, then get serious. Always seems that the bigger the hurry, the higher the price.
