Looking for suggestions for best cold weather mittens/gloves … Not for ice fishing but something that’s warm and also suitable for open water while using spinning gear so fingers can be exposed at least while casting.

I had this question last year, and I believe the overall I got and what I do personally is the cheap jersey gloves, but bring a few pairs with to swap out. They really are pretty darn warm for being cheapos. I still want to try a pair of insulated golfing gloves.

I would have to agree that the insulated golf gloves would do the trick. I use them in the fall / early spring. Great feel and around $20-$25 – not bad.

Rag wool glov-kits. Right around $12-$15 a pair. I have been wearing them the last three years deer hunting, bird hunting and everything in between. Pheasant hunted one year in below zero temps and my hands stayed warm even carrying a gun

The best I found a few years ago are neoprene diving gloves. Waterproof, 2mm thick, were at Gander mountain a few times. I can dip my hand into the minnow bucket, pick up fish, and have been able to tie knots when needed. Great dexterity, fully waterproof, easy to fish with.

I would like to try the Stormr gloves. Do you think you could do most things (cast, bait hooks, etc) without taking the gloves off? Which one would you order – the Typhoon or the Cast with Kevlar reinforcement? Lastly, do any stores sell them in the Twin Cities?

When I used to work construction in the cold wintery months I looked for a pair of gloves I could grab trim nails with because fingerless gloves just didn’t cut it for me so I went with Iron Clad Cold Conditions gloves. Probably the warmest gloves I’ve found without losing any finger dexterity. link…

I ordered up the Stormr Typhoon gloves through Tackle Direct. Should be here mid week for maybe a Weds, Thurs or Fri trip. Will be in the 40’s all week. I’ll maybe send a review update after I try them out.

I use fleece fingerless gloves from Fleet Farm. Lightweight and pretty warm, also they dry fast way better than cotton. If its really cold I put my ice armor mittens over them to warm my fingers. I like having the use of my fingers while fishing. Putting bait on or just re-tying. Also for 8 bucks you cant go wrong
