….were hard at work on Lake Zumbro this morning. I did some shore fishing and the whole while I was there a DNR truck with the power scrubber in tow was parked in Fisherman’s Inn’s parking area. Not a single trailer in the lot…and private to boot. Lake Zumbro really is fairly weed-free so I fail to see what the guy was going to accomplish. I think a better use of the money if they are going to have these dolts out and about would have been to have him in the backwaters, Half-Moon landing maybe, where the duck hunters spend a lot of time in shallow water and weeds. What a brain-dead job, sitting there all day watching, what, the leaves turn color.

I believe Zumbro is infested with zebra mussels, the main thing that they preach is to keep it from leaving there. Yes it is a very boring job. The guy could have went to another one of his landings on his list, that is what I would do last year when I did the job, We had 3 landings we rotated through. Go to the one on the schedule, stay a few hours to see if a boat would show up otherwise we would head to one of the other landings to increase our odds of actually talking to an angler or hunter. Never doing that job again, am an electrician now..

Oh and heres another one for you, from the time we got the unit in April till we turned it in oct 30th it had 8hrs of use on it, and I believe 2hrs were from the training. Granted towards septemeber they changed the protocol on when to wash a boat down, so that increased the number of washings but still definately not a good use of tax money. We had our unit out 4-6 days a week 10hrs a day.
