Find myself battling a doozie of a head cold this week. So I am home catching up on some rest & trying to get ready for Saugeramma this sat. What is the latest go to head cold cure / relief?

Somehow guessing BK may come with a medicinal stinkbait or spam cure…. so hoping for other options!

If it were just a headache, I’d say you could contribute it to “the bass guy” in the office …. Sounds like you’ve got a legitimate cold though, so I’d suggest Tylenol cold/flu. That still works good for me.

Nice cover up for the boss…
We know you are on the river!

Get the Sudafeed that is kept behind the counter at the drugstore. Personally I find the 24hour tablets to not work as well as the 12 hour ones. The 24 hour seems to not last 24 hours. Either way I find myself taking more than recommended. I think they play it safe as 120# ppl have the same dose as 250# ppl.
    Hope ya feel better soon.

I go back and forth. I don’t like using cold medication but the older I get the more I am willing to take them to abate the symptoms. Its only Wed. You should be better by the weekend. Eat/sleep well.

X2 Take a good hot bath, slug down a pint jar of cheap Brandy, and sleep it off. Always worked for me.

Zicam worked very well for me. Take as directed. And not the nasal spray but the dissolving powder.

I’m a big fan of the zinc cold remedies like Zycam, but the key with these is they stop the cold at the point where you start taking it. So to really have any positive effect, this means you have to take the Zycam at the first sign of any cold and then it just goes away. I’ve tired starting when I have the full-on cold, and then they don’t do aything. Others have told me of the same experience.

For the cold you have now, in addition to the behind-the-counter good stuff decongestant, those saline nasal washes really seem to help me. Basically, you shoot a whole bunch of this stuff into your sinuses and it really helps clear out the crud after a couple of applications. It’s kind of gross to use, but I HATE head colds, so I’ll do anything.

Theraflu powders, Mucinex and Motrin brands work best for me, just match the symptoms to the type when in the drugstore. Good luck, being sick is the worst.

You would be amazed at how soothing hot tea with honey is and how well it relieves soreness, nasal and head pressure for a while. I usually end up drinking it all day long.

I’m not a fan of being sick and at work…But for some reason it never gets in the way of my fishing…And when i’m fishing it’d be the coffee and nicotine diet.

So go fishing..You won’t feel as bad.

Afternoon naps work wonders if you’re able to get them.

I personally like to get in a vigorous workout as soon as I feel the sniffles coming on. Something about it seems to keep the sickness at bay.

A good dose of fresh air can also help, but it can also make it worse sometimes.

Have a couple of strong drinks with Brandy earlier in the evening and then take a couple of Advil when you go to bed.

You sounded bad last night, and like pure death today. Whatever you take, I hope it works, or Eric will have to prop you up in the boat Saturday.

    Deanb,
As you can tell everyone has their own way to remedie a cold.

Have you ever tried a jug of moonshine?
Followed with a bed and pillow?

I didn’t take the time to read through this whole thread so sorry if this was stated already but just simply go buy “Vitamin C” pills from Walmart or Walgreens. Take one in the morning and you’ll feel better, natural way to help your body battle whatever it is.
