Tell Me where to go

    One of life major hurdles is just ahead;
I have two days off for the October full moon next week and I am still undecided about where to go. Mille lacs was the origanal game plan but that is not panning out.
My go to Resort is booked and I am having a hard time finding a place to stay. So I am considering other options, Rainy River,or Devils Lake ND, Leech Lake maybe, or stay home and hit Pool 2.
    Any suggestions?

It seems that driving is not an issue, so I’d be off to LOW if I was in your situation. The fish are moving into the river where you can go if it’s windy.

LOW is where I’d be next week for MEA if I didn’t have plans to chase ditch chickens.

I’ve been biting my tongue for over 10 minutes.

This is truly one of the hardest posts for me to keep quiet in.

Leech lake has been a good bite all year long. It should be on like donkey kong out there next week and even now guys are filling limits up pretty easy it looks like. Plus it’s always a great jig bite during the day. Nothing better than a jig bite IMO.

Trolling at night works up there too.

We’ll be up on LOW next week and I can’t wait. It will be cool but we know what that brings with it If you head that way let me know and we can swap info

What day are you heading up? I’ll be heading that way either the 16th or 17th for a few days. Staying at Border View..

I agree with Leech. I’m heading up to the cabin Monday for a week and hope to get out there a few times. Pig-Hunter knows the other lake I’ll be on a few times as well!

Think it would be hard to go wrong with any of those choices. The metro offers lots of good fishing to. Get to sllep in your own bed every night to.

Rainy river and LOW is a popular place in October, That’s where I will be as well late next week. Long drive, but always worth the trip.

I am in the same boat. I have grouse hunted over MEA break for 31 years with my father (since I was 12, I am a teacher as well so have always had this break off). This year he and my mom went to Florida and stopped the tradition. It is sad for me, but might offer a chance to fish this great bite. Thanks for any ideas.

Russ, Holler at me when you see a green Tyee with an I/O drive. I’ll be the only one with an 8ft antenna flying an Iowa Hawkeye flag on the top. I’ll be heading north to the islands. Staying at Ballards.

With pool 2 right out your door dont see how sticking around home would be a bad option. This little bite of rain might just kick off a pretty good hair jig bite on those wingdams. Have heard trolling was pretty kicking out good numbers of saugers over the weekend. Even the crappies where biting on our last couple of trips out.

I would be all over pool 2 this weekend if not for heading north.

    Thanks Mike,

It’s looking more likely that the Mississippi is the place.

Heck if I am in town I just might go visit BK and go over some SPAM Recipes that I have been working on.
