    6’6″ Med-Lite Fast or 6’9″ Med-Lite X-Fast

    Those are my two choices.

Couple long time guides James H & Dustin S used primarly 6’6’MF for virtually all of their guide trips. Like the other guys mentioned, the ML or MLXF are my favorites, they are a bit limiting once heavier jigs are used or larger cranks….. sowith that, my vote is for the MF for overall versatilty.

I have been switching back and forth from my avid 66 medium and rage 6’10″mxf and the rage is my favorite by far. Actually thinking of selling my avid to get another rage. Same blank just made in china. I saw at FF they have a rage in 6’9″ mlxf that I would seriously consider looking at for yourself. If you decide to get the avid give me a pm you can borrow it sometime try it out.

Is the Rage a Bass Rod ?

Not exclusively. The rage also comes in action and power suitable for walleye- if I’m not mistaken it’s built with the same blank as an avid. I have both the avid and the rage rods and the rage is my loaner rod. Personally i would go with an avid, it is well worth the extra 30 bucks.

Seems they do gear them towards the bass, but a rod is whatever you want it to be in my book. Something about the whole setup with their micro guides that keep the line so freaking close to the blank I just feel it is more sensitive than my avid. Really only a couple rods to choose from with the rage series for walleye guys, but for me personally it is the most versatile. Rigging it may be a bit stiff but they have that mlxf that would solve that. I just think its worth a look at that’s all.
