Where to stay on Mille Lacs, last week in Oct?

    My dad and best friend from high school will be coming up from Nebraska the last weekend in October for the Gophers-Huskers game. The day before, I’m going to take them up to Mille Lacs for a day of C&R smallmouth fishing. Neither has caught a 5-pound small before; hoping to get one for ’em.

    Are most places still open then? Where would you suggest we stay?

    I’d take a look at Appledorns. Plenty of room, lots of amenities, and nearby to some great smallie fishing. Say hi to Paul for me, classy guy and works hard for his customers!

    We have been staying at the Red Door for several years.Nice and clean with a good harbor and park like grounds.Don’t need to travel far to get into some pig size small mouth.
