Sounds like the deal that the state/people/City of Minneapolis ended up with is a little different that what was approved.

Why does that sound about right? I think we [Mn residents and the State] should have Zig over a barrel, not the other way around.
Its OK though bc after the stadium is built we will have a championship team just like the Twi…..the Goph……well at least contende……oh for Christ sake wheres the barrel
I can’t see this string lasting very long as politics are not suppose to be discussed along with religion…
It was good to watch this on the news last night and see good old Ted Mondale front and center….. Slimy to the max. The Governor picked Teddy to push this through. Does anybody know how deep and how far back Ted goes with our own home grown con man, Tom Petters?
The seat fees were proposed from the beginning so I don’t see how this is a surprise. Also I am all in favor of passing as much of the cost onto the owners or people who actually go to the games. It’s the general public contributions that I think are a joke.
People will whine and complain now, but in the end pay the fees and go to the games. Good for them.
I wonder who would be on the hook if they couldn’t sell 1/10th of the available season tickets. It would be funny if it didn’t fall back on us and it actually happened.
This is one time I’m glad I’m not a Minnesota resident. I’m a huge Vikings fan but I don’t see why tax payer flip the bill while the owners rake in the profits.
Seat fees?
Sounds the same (only different) as people buying stock in the Green Bay Packers!
Sorry! Just couldn’t help myself.
Oh and by the way, the Badgers also charge seat fees. The better your seat, the more they charge for a fee.

So it would cost Samantha Ponder significantly more than most ?
I don’t see an issue with seat fees? As someone above mentioned, this puts a sizable portion of the bill on users of the stadium vs. general taxpaying public.
Now you can argue ownership should pay more but we’ve beaten that horse to death. Pug, you still have a picture of that horse?

While I agree with putting more costs to the users of the facility is a good thing, it is too bad that many of the blue collar guys who had season tix will be unable to fork over the dough that is required to obtain the license and forfeit their seats. Can’t have it both ways I guess.
To try and be somewhat Politically correct, I term this as:
The People of the State of Minnesota and Vikings Season Ticket Holders just got SODOMIZED!
Gov. Mark Dayton and the Metro. Sports Commission, this is for you
I will not be attending any Viking Games or other events at this facility.
I remember when the badgers implemented their preferred seat yearly “donation”. Everyone complained and a whopping 5000 people out of 70,000 didn’t renew. Those newly available 5000 season tickets were quickly snatched up by people on the waiting list.
If the vikings have a season ticket waiting list, I would expect the same thing would happen. I have no idea if there is a waiting list or not though so maybe they will have no season ticket holders after a seat fee goes in.
The Badgers also have a seat fee in Mens BB. Anywhere from $300 to $50 depending on how good your seat is. That is charged on each ticket each year. Kohl center has not been a season ticket sell out for 3 seasons now.
Packers have a seat license too.

The Packers were a one time fee. If you ever turn in your tickets, you get your money back, and the next person on line pays the same license.

What people aren’t seeing here is that the seat licenses does nothing to lighten the load on the tax payers portion of the cost. Zigi is using the fees to pay the Vikings share of the bill. Over half the teams in the NFL now have personal seat license fees, and its catching on in college too. Attending professional sporting events is becoming less and less for the middle class
It is my understanding – I may be wrong. The seat license goes to Wilf. That reduces his contribution. It does nothing to reduce taxpayer confiscation.
The taxpayers voted in legislators that agreed to the deal. The Wilf’s can come up with “their” money from whatever source they choose. Why would a seat license reduce the taxpayer (State of MN) agreed amount?

At times like this the British model of government where a vote of no confidence requires new elections in 6 weeks would really come in handy for those who pay taxes, I agree ……
