Nice to see a shootout win, finally. They’ve been looking a little flat lately, but good to see that they’re still making the games close though.

Hards has been out rock. Hope he keeps it up.

I DVRed the game. I almost deleted it halfway through the second. That has to be one of the worst NHL games I have ever watched.

What a dirty play to run Bacs over. I hope he gets 5 games. That was an intentional shot to the head against a goalie. I hope he gets his [censored] kicked and gets suspended.

I agree. I thought maybe one of the Wild should have stepped up and dealt with that. Very cheap.

Yeah, he deserves 5. That was absolutely bush league and a deliberate blow to the head. It will be interesting what Shanny does.

Kadri deserves a beat down. Lets score while he is in the box while we are at it.

I am a Yeo fan, but not a fan of how he’s coaching this game. He’s obviously put a leash on his players. Did Konopka even take a shift in the second?

You don’t let the other team take liberties in your house. I don’t care if it costs you a couple points. The team just looks frustrated and part of that has to be how Toronto is taking liberties.

Maybe they need a goon, enforcer or whatever they call them these days.

Konopka can fight. Stoner and Prosser too, but we don’t need a D man sitting for 5 minutes.

What a snoozer and uninspired game. I think we hit our mid season slump a little early this year.

Finally that pos Kadri is gone. Hope he gets what he deserves. He really deserves to lose about 6 teeth.

2 times in one game? That should be 7-8 games. What, did Kadri’s dog die today?

This is 2 or 3 games in a row of uninspired hockey. I am getting nervous. We have a history of tanking.

I can’t name one player who’s had a good game. Maybe Spurgeon?

What has happened to Koivu? Seems to me like he has disappeared from this team. I can’t believe no one stood up to Kadri. I agree Pug, don’t let the visitors push you around in your building. Do you think there uninspired play is because of the layoff?

Seems like they’ve been waiting longer each game to really get going. A little worrisome. Hopefully they can find other ways to get motivated.

At least this year when they frustrate me, we still skate away with 2 points. Who cares if we gave a point to an East team

Well, it’s nice to see the Wild getting their shootout mojo back. It’d be better if they won outright and didn’t end up there in the first place, however.

Very disappointed in the refs last night. Running over a goaltender with a hit tho the head and it’s a minor? The hit on Granlund should never have happened because the hit on Backs should have been a 5 + game mis. That’s what happens when the refs let the game get away.

Harding! Comes in cold and plays a great game, shutting them down in the shootout. What can you say? He’s dang near carrying the team.

I’ve got the Winnipeg game on Sunday. Never a dull game against them. Still wondering how it is that every game against the Jets makes it hard to tell who is the home team. Half the X will be wearing blue. Where do they all come from? How do they get tickets? Is this a sign that our border security is failing?

I saw we play the jets 2 times in 4 games. Should be good.

I’ve been a Backstrom guy and always said Hards wasn’t an every day goalie because of inconsistency issues. That’s gone. I am good with Hards taking over the reigns. It would have been interesting to see how Backstrom did last night. Maybe we have a Crawford/Emery situation and it is mostly the team defense. Not that it makes it a ton easier for a goalie.

I have a feeling those refs who were reffing their first NHL game will wish they had seen the hit on Backs differently when they review the film. Guys running goalies is so common. But it was obvious on replay that no one touched Kadri and he saw an opportunity to gain point with Randy the Goon Carlyle by running him. That follow through was disgusting.

    Quote:

“He made initial contact with the shoulder and the kid had his head down, he didn’t have his arms up, he ran into the player, Granlund snapped his head back and obviously, the referee saw it differently, and obviously, with a five-minute match penalty, it’ll be reviewed,” said Toronto coach Randy Carlyle.

So, apparently the hit was Granlund’s fault.

    Canadian fans chime in!

    – Kadri plays his best when he plays on the edge. This game will motivate him. Back in Gilmour’s day, that wouldn’t have even been close to being a penalty. Stupid BETTMAN!

    – If anything they might want to suspend the ref for embarrassing the league with the decision to 5 and eject.

    – If you watch the Backstrom incident, Kadri’s skates are not inside the blue paint when the initial collision occurs. Also, the last hit that got him thrown out was clean and the Minnesota player clearly embellished to draw a penalty.

    – It was unfortunate that he got kicked out of the game but he was just trying to be physical and i will never be upset with a player for giving a full effort. Granlund put himself in that position.

    – Kadri got fleeced by the refs on this one If that is not clean, then I do not like where the game of hockey is going

    – He plays on the edge, but I don’t think he’s purposely dirty like a Ribiero or Avery, Cooke (pre Minnesota) etc.

Funny to read some of those comments. That’s what happens when you drink the blue cool-aid. Hopefully Shanny dots his job.

Kadri gets three games, NHL not convinced it was intentional. The NHL higher ups are cowards.

“If that’s not clean then I don’t like the direction the game is going” Unbelievable

I am fine with the length, I still don’t buy the explanation. Sure his elbow is in, but he extends through Backstrom’s head which IMO was intentional. I don’t necessarily think he was trying to hurt him, but disrupt him and hope that the puck goes in. In any event it was a dangerous play.

Cowards was probably the wrong word, but it seems like they want it both ways. I’m more of a casual fan, You guys are more tuned in than I am.

I’m at the game tonight. Good play by the wild. Could be 3 to 0 easily.

Wild just gave up a peanalty.

Jets fans here by the thousands. Damn they’re annoying.

As usual, the Winnipeg fans were a well-oiled machine last night. And I do mean WELL oiled. What is up with these Jets fans? I mean, it’s like all of Manitoba is dry so they have to turn into huge liquor pigs as soon as they hit the border.

Ok, first I saw the funniest crowd-cam shot on the Megatron/scorebord screen. The camera operator caught two kind of pudgie male Jets fans (in full Jets regaila) and one was feeding the other one ice cream. Like, as in taking a spoonful and feeding it to the other. That’s a bit G-A-Y there, Jets fans. And the scoreboard operator put up a still pic later on and the crowd started chanting “Feed Me Ice Cream”. It was awesome.

Well, it took one cheap after-the-whistle shot to get Captain Koivu fired up. He let the ref have an earful and then bango, he nets his second of the game 3 minutes later.

The Wild were great in the first with lots of good opportunities, but then they really let the Jets back in in the second. No idea what kind of adjustments the Jets made, but suddenly we were playing a lot more in our own end.

Harding was rock solid. I’m starting to wonder what the plan is to get him some rest as I wouldn’t want to burn him up by the halfway point. Interestingly, Backs was off the roster and they imported a backup netminder for this game.

Good win for the Wild. Nice to see them come back and grind out a tough one late in the third.

The good news besides the Wild win is the the 50,0000 Winnipeg fans that came down for the game spent $1.3 trillion while they were here. And that’s just the bar tab. Two of them also went shopping. The ideal situation would be for the Winnipeg fans to spend all this money and NOT be so annoying, but I guess you can’t have it all.

Funny thing…………Canadians say the same thing about all the fisherman pouring across the border in the summer.

Hmmm. Yes. We have much to learn from the Canadians when it comes how to treat non-resident visitors.

We need to impliment a non-resident “Hockey Sportsman & and Beer Guzzler Card” that must be purchased in order to eligible to buy tickets to any game at the X. The card would be good for 1 year and would only cost $100.

And of course, we need to also impliment a Charter Bus Usage Fee for all Canadian charter busses using MN roads. $5000 per bus per year.

We also need a special non-resident lodging tax. We can’t have non-resident guests just staying anywhere they want. For their own safety, they need to stay only at approved hotels.

Yes, there is much we can learn from the Canadians when it comes to extracting the maximum amount of cash—errrr— I mean “welcoming” visitors.
