Just about every seat, even at the X, has disadvantages. That’s why I thank God every night for HD broadcasts.

On a side note, I wonder how the Ottawa fans will receive my favorite player, Daniel Alfredsson, when he returns with Detroit tonight. I sure hope they keep it classy. He did a lot for that franchise and the community.

I don’t know why he left though. I am not sure he has a better chance at a cup run in Detoilet than in Ottawa.

Brodin out indefinitely with a broken cheek bone.

Suter still more valuable. Leads the D on that team. Brodin good but still learning from Suter.

Agree, but Brodin is a big reason the Wild hold the puck so long.
When Coyle comes back can we call him Re-Coyle?

I hope you’re joking about Freddy not having a better chance to win a cup in Detroit. If not we have a contender for most preposterous statement of the year.

    Is what I originally said.

Detroit is fading away. They are fast becoming an average team even with Datsyuk, Alfie and Zetterberg. He had just as good of a chance in Ottawa as he will in Detroit. Its not like he went from Columbus to the Penguins.

The wild are looking like a really deep team right now. More so than ever. Brodin out, Coyle out and still dominating the play.

Granlund looks like a different player. Suter is at full speed already. Last year it took quite a few games to catch up. Praise is creating chances and turnovers. Neiterrider looks like a brilliant move. Fontaine looks solid. Hards is unbelievable.

Scoring will come. Not magically, but each player I feel will make the necessary adjustments to tickle the twine.

X2 Biggill-They seem to be outshooting opponents 2-1, they seem to constantly have the puck, they’re getting great goaltending. Praise I think had like a twelve shot stretch w/o a goal. Once they start lighting the lamp they’re gonna be tough to beat.
What do they do with Heatly? Patience? I’ll hang up and listen.

I’ve been waiting 10 games for them to light it up and match the dominance they have shown. What is with this franchise? Its where goal scorers come to retire!

The only reason we scored 2 on Nashville is because Rinne was pulled for one and he played hurt.

They sort of have to keep throwing Heater out there. Not sure why they haven’t moved him down to the 3rd line. They did it last year. I am guessing because when they did that 3rd line’s +/- suffered.

I knew Heater wasn’t going to score 30+ a year here, but I was hoping and would be content with 20-25. This year he might not make 10 even playing on the PP.

I think like the rest of the team, it just might take one to have a watershed moment.

It’s frustrating, but as long as they keep at it, it’ll come. You gotta be impressed with how few chances they give up. The D men are doing their jobs well. Centres too.

I apologize for the Canadian accent there.

2 goals in the first period? Wow hasn’t happened very often. To bad about Brodin, but I think they are finally deep enough at D to make it through his injury. Yea it will hurt the PP but they’ll make it. Heater’s feet look extremely slow to me, don’t know what the answer will be for him. 1st line looking very good, lots of chances.

They played like crap but still won. Some good signs, but you can’t do that every night.

Despite a couple of falling down incidents, I think Heater had a better game than he has been having. I am not even talking about the goal either. He was battling and cutting down on the give aways.

Will they get any points in the home & home against the Blackhawks?

In short, yes. I expect a couple 2-1 games. A lot will depend on how Backstrom plays, and for that matter, how Crawford plays.

I think that the wild are in a little trouble right now. Bacs isn’t 100%, and Hards is day to day. If this continues, we’ll need some kind of miracle to come from Iowa.

If they keep playing defense the way they have been and making their best defense a good offence, they should be fine.

Always said they both need to stay healthy if we are going anywhere. No team goes very far without a top notch goalie. We seem to have 2 very good goalies that are always hurt. Hope they play well tonight.

Good win for the Wild last night. Backs looked good, Pominville and Granlund had a good night. D played well. Should be another good game tomorrow night.

If you use Chicago as a measuring stick for last year, I’d say the Wild are much faster and more talented than last year. I might even believe this team had a shot to beat the Hawks in the playoffs last year.

Hey if anyone has extra tickets for the Wild vs Flyers let me know. I’m looking for 2 or 3 for my son and his GF. It would make a nice Christmas present for him.

    Possibly 4 tickets.

Gill, not looking so good tonight. Backstrom seemed to be all over the crease at times. Still don’t know if we can go to far with the goaltenders we have. Pommer and Granlund continue to play well together. Koivu has disappeared.

Goaltending wasn’t the issue tonight IMO. There were a couple uncharacteristic defensive miscues. The Blackhawks were looking for some retribution and the Wild couldn’t answer.

Lets get Coyle and Brodin back. The good thing about the Wild is that being young, if they are looking good now, they could look even better in the second half.

I was figuring on Chicago coming in and getting revenge last night so I didn’t check the score until this morning. Boy am I glad I did not watch the game last night.

As a whole, the game wasn’t that terrible. They competed well but made some horrible mistakes. I’m sure we’ve seen the last of Dumba for the year. I think he caused almost every goal against.

On the bright side, I think Granlund is going to become an impactful player very soon.

By the count someone on the Wild message boards did yesterday, Dumba was directly responsible for 3 goals last night.

    Here’s my thoughts on Dumba.

    Quote:

I am glad I am not a part of the Wild Management having to make this call. Their decision could stunt his growth either way they choose or even destroy his confidence. We know he’s a highly emotional and excitable guy. Hopefully they have a good assessment of what is going on inside as well.

My previous opinion was I would rather keep him here and limit his games. However I have liked what we have been getting from the other defensemen, including Prosser, Stoner and even Scandella. So when Brodin and Ballard come back, I don’t know how you get him in another 25-32 games, unless you want to keep risking losing points just to develop one guy. Or are you are counting on 1 or 2 defensemen being hurt at any given time?

This is a tough one and like I said, I am glad I am not a part of the decision. If you want to put a gun to my head, then I guess I would keep my original opinion and keep him here and hope you can put him in spots that help his development.

I’ll state the obvious, but how about the chemistry between Granlund and Pommer? Its sure nice to see Granlund growing where after last year there were questions of whether or not he was a bust.

I liked the answers he gave in the interview after the game. You could tell he was disgusted, but made it apparent he and the team want to forget this game and move on.

How about Stoner? I love his physical play. That first open ice hit I thought Bickell was going to go right around him for a 1 on 0 against Backstrom. Most guys would have had a knee to knee hit there, but he was able to body him. It was also cool to see him nail Saad or whoever it was that caused the ruckus around the 10 minute mark of the 3rd. .

Um, ok, this is getting weird. During the game I was thinking I should post should we call them Granlunville or Pominlund.

I know a lot of people won’t be impressed with that win because the Wild didn’t dominate, but I was for a couple reasons.

First you had a few guys getting back into the line up. That can cause problems as we saw on the first goal where Brodin misplayed the puck.

Secondly, there was some time off since the last game. The Wild historically have not come out and played well with a more than 2 days rest.

I expect a bit of a thrashing of the Devils on Sunday. I am calling it. It will be a break out game of at least 5 or 6 Wild goals.

Granlund and Pominville continue to impress. Nice to get Brodin and Coyle back. Coyle I thought had a good game in spite of being knocked down a couple of times. Harding looked good again maybe he’ll be the new #1 goalie. I hope your right about the Devils game would be nice to get some others on the board.

They’re not even playing well tonight and they’re up 2-0. They’re going to be hard to beat if they can stay healthy.

Granlund seems to be their best player as of late. So great to see him become what we thought he would.

They should have destroyed NJ tonight since they played last night and are beat up, but the Wild were very opportunistic. Good win.

    Hards just keeps rolling.

Nice win against NJ and I’m just thrilled to see them finding the back of the net more than 1-2 times per game.

I’d still like to see some of the big guns scoring even more, but hot streaks can start any time so for now the Granlund / Pom connection works for me and it makes it harder for the opposing team’s #1 defensive pair to just focus on one line.

Harding has been awesome. I have to admit, I never expected him to be back with this kind of form What a huge bonus this is, to be able to have him and NOT have to try to get Backs back in the net on an ASAP basis after injury.
