I believe Yeo’s situation is no different than any coach building a team. This doesn’t come easy and it comes at a cost. He is above .500 with the Wild. Look at these other coaches and they have had a lot of bumps in their road also. Management is finally getting him the talent to win. Give him time. Pretty hard to build a championship caliber team in 3 years.

I am not too down after that game. They didn’t fold. That’s a sign of a good team.

That 3rd period was fun to watch. I thought Ballard had a great game. Praise is really running good. Spurgeon should help we he gets up to speed. I hope Kiouv can keep up when he comes back.

I hope they do not break up Granlund, Parise, and Pomminville when Koivu comes back.

Wow we don’t see the same things in regards to Ballard. Since coming back from the dog house, I thought it was his worst game. He has been playing better. He has skill and is a good skater, but he is over confident in his abilities and gets burned time after time at the blue line. It happened again last night giving up yet another breakaway holding the blueline too long and getting burned. That was a back breaker. I was impressed how the Wild kept pressing though. Both teams gave up one soft goal. Once Spurgeon comes back I think Ballard’s days on the ice are numbered.

If they keep rolling like this, there is no way he will. And I kind of like the Koivu, Nino and Coyle/Heatley line.

Granlund is the real deal. I had my doubts last year. What a huge turnaround for him. That line is clicking now, and they are facing the oppositions top d pairing. I wouldn’t break that line up anytime soon.

Parise named captain of the Olympic team. (or one of them)I haven’t seen many games lately but I get the impression that Kuemper is doing pretty well.

Kuemper has really stepped it up. I am excited about his future. Especially after that first shoot out where he looked cocky and confident.

He is exceptional at challenging guys and coming out to the top of the crease. Sometimes that leaves him out of position on rebounds, but his surprising quickness for a big guy means he can get back and save those rebounds. He recovers quickly.

Even when they showed shots of him on the bench after being pulled yesterday, you could see he was not letting it get to him and handling it well.

Ballard got caught try to play the puck back in the Av’s end. That front line was on a roll and time was running out. he’s gott’a gamble sometime.

He had Scandella on the other side expecting the puck, and Ballard had plenty of time to get it to him. That is why Scandella didn’t back off to the neutral zone. That was the play he should have made. I think Ballard saw it was a rookie coming towards him, and he figured he could make the play. Pure speculation on my part, but down by 1 with 2 and half minutes left wasn’t the time to try that. IMO

They were pressing late. It happens. Still would have liked a little more defensive presence by him and Scandela at that point. They needed to regroup as it seemed their goals were coming on the rush.

Okay, Wild lose this game, not by the mistake of one person. That 2nd period was ugly. Ballard shot the puck in there to start that sequence on the 4th goal. Well, the Flames tonight and things will be all better.

I’m not digging the Neiter-Brodzi-Cooke line. No chemistry and I see Nino as a skill guy that needs a little more confidence.

First half, I wouldn’t have traded even Brodzi for Heater. Now, vise versa. Brodzi has little value. At least Heater has a cannon of a shot.

I see Kivuo may miss the Olympics so no playing for him tonight. That might be a good thing as he could work out with the Wild during the break. Also they need to shoot the puck more. Tonight would be a good night to start that trend.

Brodz is a shut down player. Don’t get me wrong,I like Veilleux and his energy.

Well, I don’t even like Veilleux if that says anything.

Brodzi is more of a pretender. He does ok on the pk because it looks like he takes up a lot of space, but he can’t do anything with the puck. Lots of turnovers. I’m not speaking about tonight. Plus he doesn’t seem to bring much energy.

I’m just thinking vx would be worth the small investment over Brodzi. You could invest more in skill or even a much better defensive forward next year.

Wild very fortunate to win this one. Not that they played bad, but like I said, you can’t let Tampa bay stick around.

It seems like the Wild let quite a few teams stick around. Kuemper saved them again. Their shot selection is bad.

Totally agree, the Wild made that WAY more exciting than it needed to be. Any goaltender is only going to bail you out of so much and Kuemper did great to keep it to one. One metallurgy save was all that stood between the Wild and a potential loss. That was way too close.

Maybe it’s just my impression, but the Wild seemed to really struggle to get sustained play in the offensive zone last night. Is Tampa’s D just that good?

Wild need to keep working on that 6 on 5 empty net and be able to make teams pay the price more. Pairse had a one difficult empty net shot and that was it.

Good that the wild are getting better traction on the power play.

Now when is Koivu going to be back? Read yesterday that Team Finland is beginning to shop around for a replacement. Haven’t seen anything yet today, but is Koivu pushing out a return?

I agree. Brodzi is worth nothing. He takes stupid penalties all the time and does nothing for this team. I don’t understand how he hasn’t been in the spotlight like heater was.

Because Heater makes more per year than Parise and Suter.
