“We’re throwing a lot of stuff at the wall and we need something to stick,” Yeo said.

Yeo put together an all-veteran first line of Dany Heatley, Mikko Koivu and Jason Pominville and an all-21-year-old second line of Nino Niederreiter, Mikael Granlund and Zucker.

Charlie Coyle, also 21, moved from top-line right winger to third-line center with Matt Cooke and Justin Fontaine. Center Kyle Brodziak, who hasn’t scored in 30 consecutive games, was downgraded to the fourth line with Stephane Veilleux and Torrey Mitchell.

I don’t think these lines changes are going to do it. In fact, I see a big fat 0 tonight.

I actually have liked Slow and Old (Heatley) playing with Granlund and Pominville, although he makes that line a defensive liability. But whatever line he is on is going to be a defensive liability.

I thought the vision of Pominville and Granlund helped find him when he was sneaking into the zone late.

Harding out, Backstrom in, Kanopka on waivers. Look out, the train wreck is pulling into the station.

It didn’t make it to the station. I agree with putting Kanopka on waivers. He can sell wine to the players. Taking Harding out?? After 2 goals last game? Neither were his fault. Yep, it’s done piled up already.

He’s out with the flu. I hope it is the flu. I like the story Harding is writing. They can put Konopka on waivers, but he’s hardly the problem.

Yeo should not read anything into the fact that Leopold has placed an empty cardboard box on the end of the bench.

Let’s look on the bright side. They seem to be keeping up with Buffalo thru 1 period.

they don’t seem to be too keen on saving Yeo’s job judging by the first.

Good win and I’ll try not to dismiss it. There were some positives if you take that first period away. The biggest positives for me was they were good in their own zone. Also those goals were goal scorers goals. All snipes and no garbage. Yet, you have to account for this was Buffalo, even if they have Miller.

More energy that’s for sure. Like the speed of the junior line. Still passing is not sharp. Will see what Ovie and the Cap’s have in store.

I think they are struggling a bit, so maybe it will be good timing for their confidence.

I think after the first period Yeo got down on his knees and begged and pleaded for them to play better so he could keep his job. For the records I like Yeo and don’t thonk firing him will help.

The Wild won a game that they absolutely should have won. Always good to win a game, but it indicates nothing about the future.

Yeo is on the way out, the only question is still will it be after the next loss or at the beginning of the Olympic break?

Unless you have his replacement in pocket already why wouldn’t you wait until the Olympic break? Longer you wait the deeper the coaching pool / choices will be.

I would stick with him until the break. Also if I were Yeo I would let these line changes stay. Let these guys work on their timing. Changing these lines around as much as Yeo has done has had to hurt them.

Wait to retread a coach who was just fired? I wouldn’t be surprised if they just elevated an assistant or convinced Walz to coach.

Really…………what success was that? Getting blown out in the first round last year? You seem to forget nearly everybody with a pulse makes the play-offs in the NHL. He will not be the coach of the Wild for the puck drop next season.

He’s gotten them on good runs to start the year. That is the success I speak of. While it may be grasping at straws, it is more than I can say for the other guy you compared him to.

I wasn’t comparing him to O’bama. The point was O’Bama can’t be elected to a 3rd term under the constitution. Yeo can’t survive due to the teams record. Doesn’t matter if you think it’s his fault or not. Financially they need a strong play-off run which I don’t think Yeo can deliver.

I think we are arguing for arguing sake. I don’t think there is enough ventilation in your hot stove league.

So tonight will be VERY interesting.

They beat a crappy team at home they were supposed to beat. Guys are all smiles in the locker room, despite a crappy first period that could have made the game go sideways. Oddly enough the one guy who was not too high after the game was Cook who had very sober words to the media.

Now you got Washington coming in and they are a bit cold. Their last win was against the Rangers and Ovi has one goal in that stretch, although he did score last game against Carolina. They are 1-2-2 in that 5 game stretch. The forwards need to be real good defensively. Ovi can put up 10 shots a game on his own. They need to get on his stick and take away shots. It might not hurt to get a little physical with him.

The real thing to watch is who Yeo puts out there against him since he has last change. A game like tonight where there is one elite player and another very good one in Semin on the other team, the onus is on Yeo to get the right guys out there. A game like tonight you can really judge a coach.

Keep those shoes off until we get into the West Coast trip. They better win tonight, because that’s going to be a doozy. Kings and the Coyotes.

This could be a break out game for the Wild. It should be fun to watch.

That’s what I am afraid of. They usually flop on potential break out games.

Spurgeon out. Fontaine out. Scratch and claw type of game tonight for the Wild. Spurgeon is expected to miss a few weeks.
