Goalies are tough to figure out. You just want them to at least put up decent numbers, but more importantly be consistent. Harding has been consistently elite this year, although to be truly elite you need to do it for 2 seasons.

Backstrom had off season sports hernia operate, a concussion and recently a virus that caused him to drop 10 pounds. He’s had a tough year, but hopefully he is prime to turn it around.

A quote from Fletcher on Harding made it sound like they have known they needed to take him out for 1 week so he could make adjustments for some time now. Unless they screw up, he’ll be back in a week after Christmas.

I also wonder if they aren’t going to burn Suter up. His minutes equate to a pitcher throwing 300 innings a season. At some point he is going to break down.

Well if we could blow a team or two out we could rest him a bit. I don’t think he’s going to burn out. The guy really is amazing. He skates so smooth and deliberate, to me sometimes it looks like he is in slow motion, yet he moves past guys and makes quick moves to lose a player and it just amazes me.

Back’s may catch a little break tonight as the Penquins had a tough go of it last night.

That’ll catch up to us/him sooner or later. There’s just no way he can sustain that for the next 6 years

The guy is a horse. He can handle it. He’s a freak of nature. Down the line Brodin, Spurgeon and Scandela will continue to develop and allow him to play less minutes….“IF” he needs to.

    What happened?
I had to work tonight and couldn’t watch it. I was not liking the updates from my Wild App. I know that much.

Tough to play in front of a goalie who gives up a cheap goal 49 seconds into the first period because he can’t handle a rebound. Had a tough night controlling any of his rebounds.

19 players who absolutely stunk tonight. There is nothing good to say about the game, it was embarrassing.

Pens playing second night of back to back with a depleted defensive corps and we couldn’t even make it close. Even for how bad they played, they could have made it close and possibly one if they did something with their power play. The Power play has become God awful. They are so slow, methodical and deliberate. It gets annoying to watch.

This team went from a high speed, fore checking puck control team at the start to a complete turd. We have one line that scores. We are fricken 2nd to last in scoring.

Scoring gets padded by drawing penalties and scoring on them.

Man, did that game stink. Peeeee-eeeewww.

Seriously lacking in fundamentals. 5 on 3 and then come out of it giving up a goal? Come on guys! You have to get it done with the silver platter opportunities just as a starting point. Zach, Koivu, Pom, come on, there is no excuse for not slamming one home in a 2 man advantage situation.

I’m seeing the troubling signs of last year emerging. Low goal production, over-passing, over-thinking, and poor fundamentals. Come on guys, get it back together.

I agree about last year coming to life. Our silver platter boys looked like pee wee’s out there. I have never see poorer passing. Not just this game but for the season. This goes straight to the top.

I guess my memory fails me. I guess I am trying to blank all this non sense out. I am not giving up on them. Maybe they needed this to give them that kick they need.

Sounds like Yeo kicked their butts in practice. I’d be less concerned if the scoring was an anomaly, but it seems to happen every year.

The youngsters need to start doing more.

Next year hopefully we can add some scoring once Heatley is off the books.

More scoring would be great. It would be nice to see these guys take the puck deeper toward the goal instead of being so quick to pass it off. They also need more motion around the goal. They seem to stand around waiting for something to happen.

I haven’t watched much lately but just started watching this game tonight. Pretty decent 5 on 3 considering they finally got one. Everything else looks like a c bantam game. They look terrible.

Man I hope Heatley is a second half kind of guy. I’m so close to hoping he sits for 7.5M rather than playing.

There absolutely no chance anyone would take this guy at trade time.

    When is the Olympic break?

Simply pathetic. A team with speed and talent more looks like 2 years ago.

I get frustrated. I know you don’t want to force things and I think they were trying to tire them, but that pp they pass, catch, backhand – forehand stickhandle a couple times and repeat. Very slow and methodical. What do I know, they are 10th in the league.

I think they play very different in front of Backstrom too. All the goals in the last 2 games, except the first goal in Pitt and the one he fanned on, were pretty impossible saves. And he had a couple dandy ones too.

But the rest of the goals guys were left wide open.

You can hope in one hand and poop in the other and tell me which shows up first. He’s toast. I want him to sit. I think it is coming. He has to be dealing with some balance issue. I thought it was hilarious when he got checked twice and knocked down and the fans cheered like it was a big hit. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen him fall with no one around him. That’s why I think he has a medical issue. He didn’t fall down last year and there is a huge drop in his game from last year.

No, he won’t get moved. I don’t think a team is looking for a guy who trips over bluelines and has lead his team in – in the +/- category for 2 years.

Oh shush. I don’t poke you in the Twins threads.

I see they made some big moves. We’ll be solidifying that 3rd place in the central this year!

I see where the Wild have been poorly prepared for these last 3 road games Parise states. I don’t get it. Professionals not prepared?

It was posted on 12-21-2013 in the Pioneer Press. Kiovu made the quote and Parise climbed on board. It was after the Pittsburg game.

Seems they have found the consistency they have been looking for.

Granted they are missing Parise & a starting goalie but the bottom line is they got beat at home by the Islanders!

So, that’s enough of the first time head coaches. Who’s next?

No, they got their A goalie back. And you left off that the Islander were playing the second game of a back to back and missing Grabner and Baily.

It’s the same cycle for a 3rd year in a row. Hot streak, cold streak. At this point, I would be surprised if Yeo makes it to the road trip. Then the question is, who gets elevated? Hendrickson? Wilson? Sydor? Kleinendorst? Don’t think we have time to go out and get a coach.
