Just thought that i would throw this out there I have fished all my life and learn something new every day. I was puting line on a spinning reel and had a rep friend hold the line with a pen thru the holes as usual was starting when he stopped me. I know how to do it when laying on the floor never thought that i was doing it wrong when coming strait off the spool????????
he showed me that when the reel spins the line has to be the same when doing strait off the reel so if your reel goes to the right the line shoould come off the bottom if left the line has to come off the top it does make a big difference with line twist just wanted to throw it out there.

I spool up my line in whatever fashion and then walk to the creek and let all the line out with nothing tied to it, then re-wind wet. No coiling whatsoever. Depending on how I use the rod, I may do this again after a day of hard fishing. Doing while in the boat moving between spots works well too provided you’re not going 50 mph.

Sweet. Will have to try it out. Always just put on line then bend it back towards reel to see which way it wants to coil then flip spool if needed.
