Resort Suggestions Northern MN

My folks are thinking about doing a week long cabin rental somewhere in northern MN in early August…maybe Kabetogema or Vermillion or something along that line.
They are looking for a decent cabin that will sleep at least 10 on a good fishing lake while still having things like a beach, playground, pool maybe and stuff like that for the grandkids.

They kind of want to go further North than Winni/Leech to have the more “untouched” feel when out on the lake and just to try something new.

I suggested LOTW and Rainy mainly for the fishing but for some reason they aren’t overly receptive to those options.

    Anyone have any good suggestions?
    Thanks!

If yo want “untouched” as you say then vermilion in August is not the place unless you like to see pleasure boaters, jet skis, and pontoons. Vermilion is second to none in beauty but boat traffic has gone way up over the years, especially in the summer.

If I were to stay on vermilion I’d locate somewhere mid lake to stay away from traffic… Shamrock resort is the place I would suggest on vermilion. Plus, randy is the most handy and nicest guy on the lake… Always goes out of his way!

Lastly, the fishing part… What are you fishing for? Muskie are everywhere this time of year but some people would say walleye fishing is tougher this time of year. Hope this info helps… Message me if you want more info about anything.

We stayed at Northern Lights Resort on Kabetogama this spring and I really liked the resort. Protected harbor, even with having the ‘worst’ possible wind direction for their dock for most of the week, very helpful and friendly staff, in the summer months they have more stuff out for kids (we were there 3 days after the ice left this spring so they were still setting everything up). They have 2 cabins I think that would take a group that large all in one cabin, one for sure that will. Most of Kabetogama is in Voyaguers national park so very little development, others on here could speak more of the summertime boat traffic than I.

We will be returning again next May.

Just Checked Northerns website, I see their biggest cabin is already booked out the entire month of August next year.

“Muskegon point resort on Lake Vermillion….Quiet… No pool ..

I would also agree on Muskego point, also on the western side of V, so not as ‘busy’ as down by the casino.

Arnesens on LOTW (about halfway between Baudette and Warroad)

much less-crowded/more-secluded than the Morris-Point-area cluster of resorts on the north side of Baudette
