New trailer bunks

Need to replace the old bunks on the trailer this fall. I am considering adding glide pads to the tops of the bunks. I have heard good and bad about them and also heard you should not use them with rivited hulls. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A few boats ago I had to replace my trailer bunks and used a good quality green treated 2 X 6’s and outdoor carpet. Worked pretty well. I don’t have experience with glide pads.

I have this on my to do list as well. Searching the web I see a lot of people saying not to use treated due to the corrosiveness of the treated chemicals. I’m taking my new bunks to Red Wing next spring so I can easily change them while the boat is tied to the dock.

X2 on not using green treated. It doesn’t take much looking to find out why not to. As far as bunk slicks I can see it being a bad deal with a rivited or painted hull. I put them on my last trailer and worked better then some of my cheap roller trailers. I used the plastic 1×4 they use for forming concrete radiuses.

I put bunk slicks on a trailer I redid a couple years ago and immediatly took them off. The boat moved around to much while trailering it. I kept picturing g the boat flying through the back windshield of my SUV.
