A buddy and I are heading to Pool4/Lake Pepin on Labor day for some walleyes. Neither one of us has been here at this time of year. We were thinking about pulling cranks on Pepin. Maybe pitching some wing dams. We are both new to this so any help is appreciated. Point us in the right direction. Also I’m guessing it pretty busy on Labor day. Is it do busy out there with pleasure boaters around? Also what launch would be good to go out of? Thanks for the help.

To be honest walleye fishing this time of year is tough. I think your trolling idea is good. The flow is lowish, so if you target wingdams I would focus on the first one upstream in the series. I like the ones below Reeds Landing to Wabasha personally. Anchor just upstream from the line produced by the wingdam and pitch jigs and throw cranks. Good Luck, You may need it.

some good eyes on the big points of pepin right now.. pike are near all of the creeks with water flowing in.. hit these area early and lat in the day for eyes and pike.. then either fish the channle up river or down from pepin hitting the wing damns for sunnies they are on fire right now and you pick up a few of everything else while your at it.. fishing is good on p4 right now if your fishing the right areas.. think flow and rocks youll be just fine!

    good luck
