Inside Car Wind shield cleaning tips?

The vinegar post got me thinking, would this be good to get the wind shield clean? I have a convertible and leave the top down all the time. It seems to get harder and harder to get the glass clean without trying 3-4 times.

Anyone have troubles with streaking or removing that inner film that builds up?

And what the heck is that film? It’s always bothered me!

Glass cleaner works for me. Do it often. I assume that film is residue from the dash and defrost material.

Might you have a leaking heater core that’s leaving coolant deposits on your windshield?

Way back when I used to detail cars at a shop those windows with the almost resin like streaks always had beaners on the floor…..just saying.

Our trick was to add a lil splash of rubbing alcohol to your glass cleaner, makes for a quicker flash point, and two rags, one to clean wet and the other immediate follow dry and poof, clean.

Jeez…you guys are good. Very timely. Just bought a new Ram 3500 the day before yesterday. Driving into the sun the next morning couldn’t see very well. Inside dust/film….wiped it off with a dry rag – that didn’t work well. Will try the cleaner/alcohol deal. They washed the outside but didn’t do the inside windows.

Stumbled into a clay bar once. Bunch of shirtless guys and Big G holding court to Abba’s Dancing Queen on the dance floor told me it was time to leave…..oh, you said CLAY bar….sorry.

I always thought the film was caused by using armor all on the dash. The fumes , or residue from when the sun heats the product up causes the film?????

Micro fiber cleaning cloth works for me. Clay bar works great on paint before waxing. And Meguires is made by 3M so it’s local. They should have a kit that has the bar, spray and a wax to put on after and man does your cars shine.

They are awesome new, but be careful with washed ones they tend to not want to wash out all the leftover residue from whatever you used it on prior. Outside of car yes, spotless windows……Ehg.

The film is from all the plastics used in the interiors of cars these days. Virtually everything from the carpet to the headliner is some sort of plastic. Plastics are made from oil & other chemicals. The sun bakes down and heats up the plastic interiors enough that they give off invisible vapors that leave film deposits on the interior of the windows.
