Are you planning on fishing both the US and Canadian sides? Blades are always a go to. Double Cow Girls, Red/Black with nickel blades, Black and Nickel, Gold on Gold, Brown Orange Orange all good colors. Burning 8s can be a good tactic as well. Blades at night without a doubt, maybe a Top Raider mixed in on shallow spots.
For topwater, Top Raiders, Pyscho Sisters & Dirty B’s by Big Mama are a great topwater bet. Loon, black, fire tiger have produced in the past.
In terms of crankbaits, you’ll want to pick up a couple Storm Flatsticks. They make some colors you swear that they had LOTW in mind. Gold Chrome Sucker, Gold Yellow Perch, and a lighter pattern such as Cisco or Gizzard shad are good bets.
You can always find smaller fish in some of the slop areas, grinding out some of the back bays can yield good numbers. A lot of the time, rocks are going to be where you’ll find some larger fish. I’ve heard rocks have started to pick up, saddles, humps especially if they are adjacent to good weeds. Start working your way up on the East side of Falcon Island for a place to start. Just start driving and you will see 1,000s of spots that just scream “CAST HERE” Finding spots won’t be the issue, fishing all of them will.
