I have suffix 832 leadcore and I am wondering what knot you guys are using with the swivel. I have been using a knot of myne but it is hard to get a good clean knot. Any replies with a link that shows how you can tie a good clean know with leadcore would greatly be appreciated.

Looking for the same thing… I have attempted the try the Willis knot but I cannot threat the lead core it basically unravels. I have also attempted to do a blood knot but the mono just comes apart.

I am not looking for a knot to tie to mono, I am looking for a good clean knot that I can use to tie to a two way swivel!

A very simple knot that works well is the improved clinch.

Two knots that i recommend looking up are the Red Phillips knot and a Uni to Uni knot.

I used to use the uni knot, but have switched to the albright knot. Easy to tie and is very strong. Works well for tying different diameter lines together.

    Willis Knot

I know it’s (k)not exactly answering your question but when I go from Lead-core to mono (I’m assuming that’s what you’re trying to do here) I forgo the swivel and simply break off a small portion of lead at the end, remove, slide the mono into the braid (where the lead was) and use a simple overhand knot that includes both the braid and the mono together. Works great and is easy. Plus you can safely reel inside your eyelets.

So easy even a bass guy can tie it and it’s a knot that they use on the great lakes for salmon so I’m sure it can withstand the fighting of those pesky 15″ saugers…

take out about 3″ of lead and tie an Albright knot
stay away from the suffix 832 leadcore line

reg suffix leadcore or cabela’s works alot better
18lb test and tie on 20 feet of 20lb braid

I’m not a leadcore guy myself but I do believe guys remove the lead from the last couple inches before tying knots? I’m sure some lead guru can confirm or dispute this.

It is highly recommended that you use a swivel if you’re going to use the Sufix 832 lead core line. The reason being is if your lure happens to spin, the spins will work their way up to your lead core line causing the lead to break and start shooting out the nylon sheath. This does not happen when using regular lead core line.

To attach your swivel to your Sufix 832 lead core line: Peel back the nylon sheath away from your leadcore and break off the lead (about 6 inches). Attach your nylon sheath to your swivel by using a Palomar Knot .

To attach your swivel to your leader using mono or fluorocarbon. Attach your mono or fluorocarbon leader to your swivel by using an Improved Clinch Knot

To attach your braid leader to your swivel – same as above by using the Palomor knot.

To attach your mono or fluorocarbon line to your leadcore line (Reg Leadcore). I use a tool called

Tie-Fast It’s easy and fast especially when you’re on the water.

While trolling the open basin of Mille Lacs, I use both lead core lines (regular lead core and Sufix 832 lead core) for a variety of reasons. I also use fluorocarbon and braid leaders on my lead core lines for different trolling applications. There are benefits of each.

I always peel back the sheath and clip off the lead core about 6-8 inches back then tie it like any braid.

100% correct you need to remove the lead before tying any knot. To do so bend the line back and forth about 4-6″ from the end until you can break the lead, then pull the sheath back and slide out the broken piece of lead.

X2 on adding a swivel with the 832. Because of the thinner sheath line it can twist which could cause a break in your lead.
