    Hey Everyone!

So I’m looking for places to go on my Spring Break March 8-16 BUT I REALLY don’t want to go to a typical spring break destination. I’ve never been anywhere west of Kansas City, Joplin, Dardanelle, or Marshall MN. I’ve never been farther south than Arkansas, except for when I flew to Florida for the typical American Disney Trip.

I’m really thinking of going to somewhere from Texas all the way West. Not leaving the United States either. I have no idea if at this time Oregon and Washington have snow or if the Mountains have an effect of some sort but I do NOT want to be in snow. However, I don’t mind it only being mid 50’s and I don’t mind if It’s 90’s. I just don’t want to see snow. Oh! Also! I will only be 20…

Do any of you guys have any ideas where I could head out to? It could involve fishing, it could not. It could involve golf, it could not. I just want to see more of the United States and not spend an incredible amount of money. Help me out guys! Any ideas?

I had a good time in South Padre Island Tx they had a nice Campground that was 30 years agoI am sure a lot has changed. I went down there two years in a row 1 year camped at the campground the next year pitched a tent on the beach!! I guess this would be a traditional spot. Can always check out one of the National Parks,

I assume you will be flying and renting a car. If so I would go to San Diego, great weather, beaches, night life and many reasonably priced charter fishing day trips. The Zoo is a must and a day on the beach at Torry Pines State forest; the trails are great. Whale watching, girl watching, charted fishing – what not to like. If you don’t want to rent a car, I’d go to San Francisco just for the wharf, shopping, sight seeing. Washington DC has a great subway system to get you around, lots of sights to see and if your lucky you can hook up with a local bass club and get some fishing in.

I used to travel around the South and fish as a co-angler in small tournament series, The BASS weekend series offers this opportunity and as does many other tournament circuits. It is like getting a guided trip with a talented local Pro. This is also a good way to learn about local sites to vist and have some fun.

Can you rent a car now when you are 20? I know I had issues at that age. Just a thought.

When I was in college, I took my spring break to Rainy River for a walleye fishing trip. Beat the heck out of going to waste money getting drunk and hitting on girls.

Out west there will be snow in the mountains. Some people do the spring skiing thing that time of year. Weather can still be in the 50s or even better during the day. See bikini topped women on skis for reference. They go especially well for apres ski with a band out on the patio

However I’ve also had full winter in Vail at that same time. if you truly want to avoid snow then maybe staying out of the mountains out west is your best bet.

One of the favorite ways I used to travel was to pack the tent and a set of maps in the car. That makes it cheap and simple. If you don’t have a set destination then set a rule or two like no more than 5 hours driving in any one day. Maybe choose roads that aren’t four lane interstate.

FYI – Padre is a nuthouse during spring break. That can be good or bad depending on your point of view.
