Today another story is on the front page of the Star Tribune questioning if the Wilfs can pay their share of the new stadium costs. ( Seems the racketeering case has some folks nervous. )

But really, what difference does it make? The state can’t meet their obligations using the electronic gaming revenue, so who really cares if the Wilfs can pay? Just dump the whole thing on the taxpayers and move on.

Maybe the residents of Minnesota and the Vikings team should insist on getting new ownership. Maybe the team win a Super Bowl. Then ask for a pile of seats in a hole in the ground. The Wilfs should build their own stadium and Minnesota should build around it.

    Screw’em all and say adios.

+1 billion. This is so typical of the Vikings history, crash & burn

Ps. I am a Vikings fan, this is just another 41 doughnut, take a knee, wide right, interception,,, and the list goes on and on

It is funny how they just assumed the e-pulltabs would generate revenue with nothing to back it up.

I could be wrong but I believe Dayton has come out and said the state could pay there share of the bill with 0 dollars from the E-pull tabs (which were always just a terrible idea). I could be wrong, but I think the state plans on using the cigarette tax to pay for all of it.

One thing I’m totally confused about with this. Who actually is the “real owner” of the stadium? ……Minneapolis? ….The State (us taxpayers)?, ….or the Wilfs?
I ask this because it is my understanding that Minneapolis owns the land, the Taxpayers are fronting 450 million +/- and the Wilfs are fronting a bunch of their own cash – but it is the Minnesota Sports Utility Commission (Mondale) that runs the place and seems to be making all the calls on the spending as it relates to the building construction. Who will the actual legal owner really be? Can anyone enlighten me?

Typical liberal…pay for something with mythical revenues.

The problem with that is there is this thing called a “budget”. Yeah, I know…this “budget” thing is hard to understand, right? *mindblown*

Owned by the state of Minnesota with 1 tenant (Vikings) who will generate and retain all the revenue except certain ticket taxes which go to the state.

It’s a “sweetheart” deal expected by all professional sports teams.

BTW, with very little research you will see the Wilfs have very, very little out of pocket cash going into the project. It’s being funded by a $200 million NFL loan (advance on TV revenues) naming rights for the stadium (estimated at $8 to $10 million a year for 20 years) and PSL’s (personal seat license) which you must purchase to have the “honor” of buying a season ticket.
