After being comfortable in my job for 5.5 years, I took a chance and changed jobs. Better pay and incredible benefits. Well, today I lost that job. Feeling pretty down in the dumps. I was lucky enough not to be affected by the O’conomy thus far, but my run of good fortune may be over.

I’m sure nobody really wants to hear it, but I guess I’m pretty upset and just want to let it out a lil. Thanks for listening…

I’m sorry to hear that. I went through that many years ago and it’s pretty stressful and unnerving. Something will come along, it’s just the time inbetween. This a a pretty large network of great people, ,maybe you should let us know what field your in. Networking is and getting an “inside” lead is usually the key. Hang in there!

I agree. Take some time for yourself and family. Start networking. You never know if someone else has been eyeing you up.

    Stay positive!

Now your job becomes working as many hours as you are used to working finding a new job. With work, it will happen.

Might be a good time to look at construction again. Have heard from a few guys they are having a tough time finding experienced or quality workers. Thought I heard earlier this summer some of the local unions are near full employment to.

You could always move to Minneapolis and become an artist. I heard it’s pretty lucrative as long as you have a creative eye and a bed sheet.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It’s a bummer, anytime you’re looking for a job and didn’t want to be, it’s a raw deal.

But you have to stay positive and know that you WILL find something and soon. I’m not just blowing sunshine up your skirt, if you’re going to be looking for work, NOW is a great time to be doing it. We have really noticed that the slack is totally out of the chain as far as good people looking for jobs. Even a year ago, we had multiple good people to choose from for every job we had open. Now we’re having to shake the bushes really hard just to get some decent candidates.

Get to work on it and you’ll find a good gig soon.

X2 Maybe until you find that good job again, the construction field in the cities is pretty hot right now, and you may find some good temp work with that.

i’m currently in a position where my current company is in a transition phase which could be good and could be bad. there are alot of issues that are solvable but its dependant upon managment putting the right pieces in place to solve them.

i also received a job offer from an aquaintance looking at starting a start up. i very much am working through and praying about all these things right now. your situation is certainly not something i’d like to have happen.

    good luck.

Feel your pain, I’ve been out since November. It’s no fun.

There are some real good networking groups in the South Metro. PM me if you want more info. I’ve been attending one in Eagan.

Hang in there! You’ll be in a better spot soon!

https://www.minnesotaworks.net/ good place to put your resume on and look for jobs. Just keep on working at it. I would pick up anything for starters. If your a veteran there are awesome resources just shoot me a message, I can help get you in contact with one. Frustrating but it’ll come around just keep up the searching.

Yeah, see this is what separates this site from others. Thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement. I’ve already got a couple leads.

I had an idea that this was coming and what killed me was the look on my boys face when I walked in the door. He knew and looked more devastated than I was.

Thanks again guys! Time to drink away the pain…

One of the hottest jobs right now is welding. Pipe line and industrial is the where the demand is the most. Classes for it are not too long, but they are pretty intense. And a lot of the work requires you to live on the road. If you’re a young man or know a young fellow who wants a good future and good money, mention this to him. Union, Stand Together Or Stand Alone.

I see want ads in the local paper wanting CMAs, so this is a marketable field, that you should be able to pick up something.
Meantime, stay out of the SUDS, and just face the reality of the problem. You are young and you will find something.

    Best to you.
