98 silverado help!

Ok. I am stumped now. I have a 98 silverado that the hvac seems to be acting up. Most all the functions work normally on both ac and heat. The problem is when I put the defrost on. Air comes out all of the defrost sections except the middle of the windshield. It will blow on both doors and on either side on the dash except the middle. It isn’t too big a deal but in freezing rain it will melt a spot for the driver to see and the passenger to see but not the middle so it is a bit of a safety concern.

Any thoughts on what it could be? I was planning to try and remove the dash this weekend but it is a big job and don’t know if it will solve the problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Check and/or replace the Mode or Blend door actuators

I would not even consider myself a backyard mechanic, just

that the blend actuator went on my 2007 Silverado.

X2 I have done several because of the exact issue,not a job for the class C or low B mechanic.

There was also a updated version for the blend door(tabs would break).
