Thanks for all the times you picked me up on the way up to farm from Milwaukee to Ahmerst for the weekend as a kid. Thanks for all the squirrels, rabbits, ducks, deer your farm provided me and a full playground for an outdoor loving kid to explore. Thanks for showing me the value of pigeon that’s been eating your corn for the whole summer

Most of all thanks for being you

    Bill,

Remember the good times and he will always be with you. I have an uncle that I am very close to, I spent every summer from 12 to 18 working on his farm.

He taught me a lot of things and now that my dad has passed on his brother is a close second. We got to spend a day together last week talking about our upcoming fishing trip this fall, we’re both looking forward to it.

You and your family will be in my prayers!!! Hope to do some fishing with you again this winter.

Your post made me realize I didn’t have an uncle that I was close to and there were 9 of them.

You’re a lucky guy Bill. I’m sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys, I just want to share a few things about him because he was a pretty special person:

Uncle Larry would come in from working the fields and my Aunt Jeanette would make a roast with gravy, mashed potatoes, cooked veggies and jello. I would watch in amazement as Uncle Larry would wolf the entire plate of food down in 5 minutes mixing it all together – “It all goes to the same place”

Uncle Lawrence would ALWAYS stop for a burger and fries on the trip up. He always seemed to stop at the same greasy truck stop and his own catch phrase after dinner was “___-dam Hamburger taste like it baked in the sun for three days” In his own special fast talking way and Polish accent

The first comment out of his mouth when you came back from hunting “didyouguysseeanything”

Uncle Lawrence loved dogs. Being a life long bachelor Uncle Larry would feed his dogs the same thing he ate. Hotdogs, bread, donuts, pastry

U.L. also loved beagles. Having a beagle around as a teenager was pretty much the coolest thing a kid could have on a farm, especially during rabbit season. U.L. catch phrase : “That dog there – she’s one sniff, three barks and done”

I could go on for hours. BK, unfortunately I was not close to Uncle Lawrence after I got married and started my own family. The last time I stopped in on the farm, Uncle Lars was not there. I left him a note but I don’t think he could read real well the last few years. May God rest his soul
