Are the # of ice fishing days melting away?

    Exactly. Lawmakers making laws about something they know nothing about. Imposing fines and mandates that do nothing but make folks that aren’t involved “feel” good.

    The easiest thing for government dept’s to do is nothing…unless there’s a buck attached to it. Then there’s motivation and right or wrong, things get done.

    If the Asian Carp fiasco dies out, they will just show the IL River video a few more times to get people throwing money at the government to do SOMETHING…and you can bet your last tax dollar they will make sure it’s spend (notice I didn’t say wisely?)

    Where is that button release?

    I will say it again, might the earth be warming ? Sure. Is it because of hairspray and autos, some like Al Gore and would be scientists may suggest that, but just as the other studies, a 150 year “snapshot” is laugh out loudable, when trying to come up with a pattern for the earths climate. I will say this, when I was a kid, growing up on the lake, being able to skate on the lake at thanksgving, was hit or miss, but we were always on the swamp by then. I will also say, it took a he77 of alot less ice for me to venture out in the 70’s, than it does in 2013 Take it for what it is worth (shouldn’t be much)

    Speaking of which, I watched Off the Hook’s season finally where he did battle with the jumping carp. He did battle with assorted weapons while water skiing. It was a good episode.

    Actually, all the episodes are pretty good. They don’t off much in the fishing information arena, but they are pretty entertaining. Eric Young is a pretty funny guy and doesn’t grate on you like, I don’t know, that John Gillespe fellow.

    Although one of my pet peeves is people who don’t know the proper way to hold a baitcasting setup.

    If you were observant, you could tell, even edited down, it wasn’t like you could not boat on the water without a constant barrage of fish missiles. They had to seek the fish out. And there was a scene of him learning to water ski and he had no protection on, so you know the water was safe.

    I am not saying that flying fish is not a concern when you are tooling around at over 40mph, but common sense and ingenuity is a lot cheaper then the government spending millions on research.

    Common sense, as in being careful while boating in flying fish waters.

    Ingenuity, as in someone someone inventing something that would help protect you while boating in in flying fish waters, yet is easy to stow away once you stop to fish or whatever.

    On a different but somewhat related note….

    Ol’ Lutifisk Loving Putz and I would go at it for days and days many years ago. We had an event down at Everts and I gave Putz a ride.

    When we got out of my truck together, someone came up to us and said…”you two actually get along?”

    I’m not sure who choked more, Putz or myself.
