WHY DO THE BRAND NEW LAKE CHIPS NOT DISPLAY THE FLAT NAMES…EXAMPLE: YOUR BUDDY SAYS GO FISH BUSTERS FLAT ON LAKE MILLE LACS…I KNOW IT BY SITE BUT THE NAMES ARE NOT LISTED…I THINK ITS A JOKE FOR THE MONEY YOU SPEND ON THESE MACHINES AND CHIPS….THOUGHTS? SUGGESTIONS? HELP?

    DON’T LIKE IT ? DON’T BUY ‘EM

YOU CAN ALWAYS GET A HOT SPOTS MAP THAT SHOWS THE FLATS WITH COORDINATES

Who keeps track of the official names? What if they label them with different names than what you buddy calls them?

Just ask for GPS coordinates. That’s standardized.

My Lakemaster displays the names. You may need to zoom in closer to read them.

I would guess that a lot flats/bays/points have had many names that would depend on who you ask or what map they use. The compaies making the map chips are gathering data for thousands of bodies of water so getting “local” structure names would be a monumental task I would think.

    Wow, tough crowd…

I think the issue you may be having is running a Lakemaster chip in a newer Lowrance unit. Is this your set up?

The LM chips dont read well in the new generations of Lowrance due to the LM buy out by Humminbird. They no longer guve Lowrance the codes to read the chips properly.

My friends have had to load the flat names into their charts using a way point and rename it.

If you are using a Lowrance Depth finder, make sure you
have the latest update loaded, then when you go to find, choose chart items instead of waypoints and you will see all the Names of the Flats of the lake you are on. Simply highlight the flat you want, hit menu and goto..Hope this helps

On my 2010 lakemaster HBird chip you have to zoom out to see the names. Used the 2013 chip the other day, but not on mille lacs. You could always keep a paper copy for when you can’t catch fish on your own and need a coords to a flat from your buddy.
