Mille Lac creel survey, ever participate in one (when did this happen?)? Apparently there are two types, on the water where they check your fish, count and measure. Or at the access where they collect your whole trip/catch information.

Multiple times at the landing at Hunters Point. In fact last time we were out on the launch on July 5th we got checked when we came in She measured all 3 of our slot fish

That is good to hear. I’ve never been surveyed. I was discussing this with my DNR buddy and I was wondering about how they came up with quota and other fish research data on ML. For walleye and yellow perch they also use gill, seine netting and electro fishing. I’m still curious if their Smallmouth numbers are off.

Yep, been surveyed at Fishers and Agate Bay. Once in the fall at night!

Got checked several times at the public access in Garrison but that is more than 10 yrs ago and never since. I see them at Hunter’s quite a bit but never been checked there. I have never understood how they think they can get any kind of good numbers the way they randomly check people and then figure the whole lake is taking whatever kinds of numbers they see. I think that they started out with bad numbers in the very beginning because they used those kinds of numbers but that’s what happens when you have government involved.

If you take a launch trip, the captains log and keep track of every fish caught. I think there is more “documentation” going on than meets the eye

Been checked on several occasions, really nice people. One gal showed us how to get the “fingers” off the walleye. The lower fins with the meat under their chin.

I don’t understand how they can consider fishermens’ stories re the number and size of fish they caught to be a reliable source of accurate info.
