I started out using nanofil in 6# test and had problems with tying knots. I wet the line when tightening it down and still break it frequently. So I went with 8# test with little change. And I just don’t believe the abrasion resistence is very good either. Anyone else use it having the same issues? I think I need to go back in the archives and try something else (I’m not a mono guy thought).

Are you using the double palomar?

    $40 in line that sucks

Most guys on here use power pro I believe and they like it. I have sufix 832 on 2 rods right now and will be changing it as soon as it runs out from snags. I do like crystal fire line on my rigging/crank rod a lot but not for the rigging part, doesn’t come off the spool freely enough for my liking. Guess it kind of depends on the type of fishing you mainly do but I am starting to switch back almost everything to mono nowadays. Tired of the wind knots, and constant struggle of it wrapping around the tip and rod itself before every cast. Some people swear the visibility doesn’t matter but I am on the other side of that argument.

I use #4 on a couple of my crappie rods and haven’t had any issues. I also have a pair of jigging rods I use on the river carrying #6 Nano and nothing seems to be amiss with it. Honestly I think I have been lucky because an awful lot of people have tried Nano and hate the stuff. The Suffix and PP….many use them and have no problems. None of the lines are cheap to replace and is one reason the Nano stays on the rods I have it on. I am about due to replace the 6 pound and I think Suffix will get the nod this time around.

I’ve used 10# Nano-fil for a couple years now and after learning to tie the Nano knot I have been happy with it. At first I tried the double clinch knot (because that is what I use) and found it slipped way too often. I tried it to get get more casting distance when using small lures on the Snake River. It works great for me.

At first I thought the line was great, but after a bunch of break offs I took it off all my reels. I still have a new 6# spool of it for sale!! $10 or best offer.

“No-No-Fil.” Tried it in 8 lb, 10 lb and now 12 lb. Double Palomar, etc…easy break offs at the knot. GREAT casting line, but who cares if its that brittle. Berkley needs to refine this line, it could be so good.
