I just bought a Coleman 2 person mini pontoon for a ridiculous clearance price. I put a 45lb thrust trolling motor on it for screwing around on smaller lakes with. The boat is 8.5ft long… seems ridiculous to have to register it… do I or don’t I need to register it?

Even if it wasn’t motorized I think you would still need to register it. I believe the minimum for non motorized is like 8 feet.
It is on page 1 in the boating regs on what needs to be registered. With a trolling motor on it it will need to be registered. 1/1/13 they bumped it from 9′ to 10′ and under doesn’t need to be registered if it’s non motorized.
