I don’t get many opportunities to fish smallies and haven’t done much research on their seasonal patterns. I am heading up for a Boundry Waters trip the first weekend in September and was curious if anyone could clue me in on the Smallie pattern for late summer in northern MN..?
I assume they are relating to rocky structures, but are they deep or shallow? And what are the temperture ranges that they move deeper or shallower?
And what is the best presentation (jigs and trailers or stick baits..etc?
Also, are crayfish the primary forage in the boundry waters lakes? If not what is the primary forage?
Thanks
