July 23, 2013 at 7:30 pm #1185169If we get rid of the penny, how will the politicians approach those “minor” tax increases? I’d rather pay $3.51 for a gallon of gas vs. $3.55. We have so many taxes we don’t even think twice about which are in – and increased in denominations of a penny: sales tax, numerous items on your phone, electric, solid waste, natural gas/propane bills etc. It’s much easier to swallow a penny increase than it is a nickel.

The last time I gave a dollar to a dancer and asked for 2 quarters back, I got kicked out of the establishment.
