Larson Boat Motor Rating

I was just browsing the internet looking at boats and was curious about the new Larson Fishing boats that were just released. I noticed that they rated the 20ft tiller model for 200 max hp. How are they able to pull that off? That sure seems like a huge motor to be mounting on the back of a tiller. Has anyone taken that beast for a spin? I would actually be interested in test driving something like that just to see what they actually handle like…

Doesn’t Larson manufacture Lund fiberglass boats?

I thought Triton manufactured the glass Lund boats. I don’t know this as a fact as I was just told this by another fisherman.

I believe the new Lund Fiberglass boats are being built by Sea Ray. I believe they started making them back in 2010.

Warrior has a 250hp rating for thier 20′ tiller. Ranger and Lund have a 200hp rating. Any boat over 20′ is not regulated by the USCG for HP. The manufacturer can dictate the HP rating. The is where Yamaha and Skeeter are falling short.

Politics and egos my friend. Since Yamaha still has not developed a higher-hp tiller steering solution, do you really think they want to see Big Tiller Mercurys on thier hulls?

No sir. Bit I would think Yamaha would make it a priority to develop their own tiller steering system. This has been since 2009.
