Move your place to the Ash Riviera, Brian.
Millions of ’em. Hey, blocked by the bog this weekend? Bummer…came by a couple weeks ago to say hello…you were not in camp.

    Sorry I missed you.

The bog was a inconvience, but I was pretty sure as soon as one of Ebels houseboats needed to get through it would be moved.

Don’t know what attracts them. But i have enough to share with everyone. Air is full of them. And one day as I was sitting on my deck I seen on a wire it was full of them sitting on it. Never before had I seen that. I have all kinds. They are harmless as far as I know.

I usually have one that patrols our backyard every year and they love chasing off any other dragonfly that tries honing in on his territory.

Not to be confused with the smaller folded winged damselflies.

Both serve the same purpose. Dispatching other less desirable insects.

You have any water on or near your property?

Not sure how to attract them but they sure are nuts this year. Had the pleasure of watching a few hundred of these badboys hatch all over the cabin area last week. I had no idea but the crusty water critters are in the lake for 2-3 years before crawling out and hatching out. It’s crazy to watch this happen. This one in the photo took about 10 minutes to get out of his shell,,another 10 to dry off and away he went.

We noticed the same thing up there. The Smallies were scooping them up as they bounced off the water.

We spent a day over at Sullivan Lake and they were even thicker over there. I wish they would stick around as they feed heavily on Mosquito’s.
