I have a Cabelas Depthmaster 2 and the line spooler that feeds the line back and forth stopped working. Of course I’m in Mille Lacs this week fishing when it decides to stop working. Anyone have a tip on how to get this POS working again??? It is only about 1 yr old and has been used only a few times!!!
Sounds as if the pawl is not running along the worm gear. Unscrew the pawl cover – underside of line guide and remove and clean the pawl – looks like a little round steel slug with 2 ears on it. Check for wear on the ears…also see if the worm gear is the problem. It will look burnished and have brass showing through the chrome. Take it back to Cabela’s and have them repair or replace it. Might try a Penn reel pawl if it is the same size.

remove the screw on the bottom of the “spooler” and push in a chunk of plastic worm and replace the screw. that should get you through the week. pawl is shot, return the reel to cables and have them fix or replace
