I am tying some Walleye spinner rigs both for crawlers and minnow/ leach. Is flora carbon a good or bad choice?
Will it prevent pike bite off? Or at least slow down the frequency . What about using something like Spider Wire? Can it be snelled on to a hook? Good or bad. Thanks

Every spinner rig I have made is made of floro. there was a post a while back on this very subject (spinner rigs and toothy critters biting them off) maybe someone will be able to link it here for ya!

Flouro. I’d say in the 14-17# range. The flouro also helps with abrasion resistance from the clevis. For years I used 8 or 10# line and I didn’t get any less bites by switching to the heavier floro but I lose way less rigs now.

We made some spinner rigs using fireline. They worked good. Helped us from not breaking off rigs in heavy rocky areas when getting snaged, as well as not getting bit off so easily.

If clarity is a non issue fireline will work. Flouro just has too many advantages compared to a braid in regards to spinners. If your spinners are catching snags and your sinker aint might want to try going faster to lift the blades or some spinners that have the floats in them to keep it off bottom. Most my spinner rigs for the river have a regular hook for the front bc the blades keep it pretty snagless and if its a crawler setup I put a snagless hook on for the back. Just my 2cents

I believe that flourocarbon is going to be your best bet. Flouro will always be the way to go for visibility issues and it will allow your blade clevis to spin freely with out hanging up.

Most guys I’ve talked to like flouro-carbon. I have not done much spinner riggin so I find the posts interesting between braids and carbon.
