My livewell pump crapped out last week. Fuse blew first. Replaced it, but pump will not run. Someone told me you can just replace the pump motor. It is an Attwood A500 model 4243. It is in a Crestliner 1750 Fishhawk. I was told the motor twists out and can be replaced. Has anyone done this?

I am not sure about the Attwood A500 model but I am pretty sure most of the motors are in fact replaceable. I replaced mine a couple yrs and it was about a 5 min job to do it. Mine might have even been an Attwood but I can’t remember for sure.

It should just twist out; so take it out and see if you can find a replacement for it. I would check with Fleet Farm, Cabelas, or even online for a replacement.

Yes, buy the replacement pump and make it happen.

Had the same thing happen on my Fishawk 1650. I just replaced the fuse and pulled the top of cylinder off pump, flushed with water and putback together and has run just fine since. Not hard to do. Sometimes a little crud gets stuck in the the pump and sticks it. Hope this helps. It’s worth a try.

Same thing happened to me this weekend. My baitwell pump is right next to my livewell pump, I just switched them so I could keep water running on my fish in the livewell.

I didn’t see it mentioned above but mine have a little pressure locking tab you need to pull away from the housing before the motor will twist out. I would guess they all do so check for that before just trying to twist the motor out so you don’t break anything.

If they haven’t been out in a while or ever they may be pretty tight(mine were) so be gentle you don’t want to crack or break the housing off where its mounted.

The new motor I bought didn’t come with any plug or connectors so you’ll need to get the old one out and wire up the new one as well.
