They’re expecting a clutch of ducklings as mom sits on the nest of eggs under the main dock.

    Spring is in the air!

We had a very large snapping turtle walking down the road on Friday night and reports of turtles laying eggs close by.

    What kind of duck?

So the turtles don’t seem to be behind schedule at all, despite the cold spring?

I believe it is a Mallard, atleast she has been hanging around the dock the past few weekends.

Weird. I wouldn’t think a mallard would lay eggs there. That nest looks poorly constructed. Hope she doesn’t lose any eggs.

On a side note, the goslings sure are getting big around here.

Brittany had a guest who decided her flower garden near the front door was a good place to drop eggs. She went to 3 different spots around the front of the house before picking this one.

Jesse, that looks like the size of the on that wouldn’t let me out of my truck at 2 am Saturday morning!

    Dang they get big!

Shore fishing by the 610 bridge yesterday and a huge old stinker came up out of the water and started hissing. I think we were sitting in its egg laying spot.

I know we can move faster then them…at least some of us, but I don’t like being hissed at. (most of the time)

Shucks And here I thought you were going to report that Kari and Steve did it again.
    But isn’t mother nature AWSOME
Had a doe and her twins out in the back yard this AM playing and jumping. A few years ago had gotten a picture of a doe nursing her one twin right out in the open in my back yard. An unusual sight.

That’s cool Mary, sometimes you see and hear things that’s very cool.

I have a friend Tim who delivers a rural paper route, its over 100 miles forsure, just don’t remember the exact miles he told me. The other early morning he stopped by a mailbox and put the paper in. He looked down and seen a newly born fawn laying right beside the mailbox post. He got out of the car and went around to see if it was hurt and he said it didn’t look like it. He got on his knees and put his arm around it and low and behold this fawn leaned into Tim and didn’t try to run and he wanted petted more when Tim had to get back to delivering his papers, that’s how newly born it was. The doe was about 50 yrds from him and just stood there watching and didn’t blow through its nose like they do when there’s danger

He’s from down south around the Georgia area and he thought the fawn was a couple months old. I told him the does start giving birth here around the beginning of June and the fawn was no more then probably a week or two old.

He says you wouldn’t believe the size of some of the bucks that run out in front of his car. Beings he’s from down south where they don’t get real big like they do here he had no idea they will go over 300 pounds, well I guess he’s seen a couple of those big ones he said, bigger then anything he’s ever seen. He sees deer and coons every night and he said its like going to a nature movie and hes getting paid for it. Nature, really is very very cool.

Anyone who has been to Everts can imagine the first thing that popped into my kids (and my)head. With the heavy rocking during big boat traffic how can they stay there.
