I have an old Model 11 semi automatic 12 gauge that was my Dad’s. I was born in 1960 and I know it’s older than that. Any markings on gun that would tell me year of manufacture. It appears that it was a 50’s model

Yes-sir. Look for barrel codes and then if you cannot find it from there take note of every marking on the gun and send customer service and email. They will tell you exactly when it was made, down to the month sometimes even day!

Huge help. I want to take this gun out to SD this winter. It still looks very good. Ive been pretty good about wiping down with oil. Not a speck of rust

Steve, I have an ancient Rem. 11 in 16 gauge. It’s a 1933 vintage and one of my deadliest pheasant guns. It’s been to SD, and has taken a pile of MN, IA, and WI birds. The were manufactured in the US under the Browning patent for 49-50 years.

Wow. I had no idea there were so many fans of the old Remington humpback out there.

My father has had a 20 gage Model 11 since he was 8 or 9 years old. It appears to be a late 1930s model. Except for ducks, he never used anything else from 1950 onward.

For his 60th birthday, I found him a matching Model 11 in 16 gage. He has a soft spot for the 16 and I wanted him to have one. It’s a beautiful gun in great original condition and because it isn’t a Browning, I got it for $300. I still can’t believe this, a Browning Sweet 16 of the same vintage in the same condition would have cost $1500+++.

I can always tell when dad shoots the 11 while pheasant hunting as I can hear that “2 stage” recoil operation: Bang – POING! Bang – POING!

    Love those guns.

    Hey Orv,
Good to hear from you. Michael Mack, Pounder and a few other guys are heading out to S D in December . I’ve got a 20 ga wing master that’s chambered for 3″ shells but I want to use that as a backup. My dad put alot of deer and birds down with that old 11. It’s really in good shape. It hadn’t been shot since he passed 14 yrs ago. I remember it wasn’t ejecting shells well so I am going to have it serviced. It’s a heavy s.o.b.
