I posted on the previous post.. that my Suburban also clunks.. but I think my clunk is different then the previous poster.. My suburban clunks when the tranny gets HOT.. never in cold weather and always on an upshift.. the upshift is timely.. meaning the truck shifts when it is supposed to.. but it only used to do this when it was like 90 out.. now its doing it when its like 70 out or less.. opinions.. thoughts.. ?

What year truck? How many miles? Tranny cooler?? When was it last serviced? By Service i mean filter change and full fluid change. Half ton or 3/4?

yes I just had the filter and the tranny fluid changed.. and its ‘worst” now.. before some one recommended some additive that i put into the tranny.. but its a 97.. k-10 350 engine.. pretty much your stock Burbo..

This sometimes is the kiss of death for a high mileage tranny….I speak from experience…..
    What additive did you try??
Lucas did the trick for me….

Seems like your problem could be with the accumulator piston/spring assembly.A shift kit install would help that issue, providing the rest of the internals are good shape.

Additives can work, plus a change to synthetic fluid? But like Mudshark said,a rebuild could be in order.

I’m on my third suburban, and my mechanic( who I trust like family) says as long as the tranny fluid is full to just leave it alone. I know that doesn’t help but for future…

Yep. My 94 Taurus just started the same thing . Sucks. I have not done anything with the fluid or filter. When the temp gets to 70-80 outside it starts acting up .
