So I am looking to buy some sort of high end outter weather gear jacket and bibs. I want it for my rain suit and colder weather gear when I am out in the boat fishing. Let me know your ideas.

I would have to second that idea. in fact my bibs are not insulated and still very warm with just a pair of pants underneath

Kinda – not too heavy I want to where it maybe from temps between 25 degrees to 50 degrees, but also using it in summer to for rain. If that makes sense.

    X 2.

I was in the right place at the right time where I baught a set for $200 at Cabela’s Bargin Cave……

I also own another set that is a less expensive off brand and non-insulated for the warmer months.

I would go with something that is not insulated and layer underneath in colder temps.

Frogg Toggs makes some nice stuff that is not like the original Cheap Frogg Toggs stuff. I have a set with the Firebelly jacket, Toadskinz Bibs and I’m very happy with them.

Look at the Firebelly or Anura Jacket and the Toadskinz Bibs.

If you are buying Cabelas Gore-Tex wait till they are on clearance for a few hundred for the set. They change their design annually as to escape from any warranty, as they will give you the ” Im sorry but this is a discontinued product” line.
Do not pay full price for it as it will most likely leak in a couple years at the seams.

I have used the Cabelas Guide Wear for years with great results. It can be used in the temperature range you indicated, you will just have to layer accordingly.

I purchased the Insulated Guide Wear when it was clearance priced early this year. That is also a great suit, but would be too warm to wear in the summer time. I believe the Guide Wear is well worth the money and if you are not in a hurry, keep checking on line for them to go on sale. The insulated (ice fishing version) I bought was $680 for the set, got them for $400.

Bought a set of the insulated guidewear a couple years ago. Zippers were junk after one use. Heard the same complaint from some others. Took it back for a full refund. Bought a Stormsuit set and have had great luck with that so far. Has Cabela’s changed the zippers?

Striker Guardian! Great suit with an awesome price. not to warm for hot days and warm enough for them frosty mornings.

My Cabelas Guidewear has to be at least 10 years old. It is not insulated and I only wear it spring and fall. Don’t need to layer much down to about 30 degrees. Mine is still going strong. No zipper problems and no leaks of any kind. I have the bib style because I am tall.

Cabela’s guide ware is good stuff along with Frabill storm suits. If you are an NPAA (national professional anglers association) member you get a good discount on the Frabill stuff.

I have from bibs and a jacket from Gamehide. Nine years later, they are still in excellent shape and I have had them out in extreme weather.

Insulated Guidewear is too warm for chilly weather. Sub freezing only for me. Layer up under any good gor-tex and you should be good to go for chilly weather. I have GW insulated parka that is too warm/heavy for most any Mn weather. Never wear it. Get a lot of use out of the GW insulated bibs.

Guidewear uninsulated has been more than enough for me the past 10 years. Layer well underneath and you’ll be good!
