Some friends and myself are planning a trip to rainy river next April for the famous pre-spawn Walleye bite. Would greatly appreciate any advice/tips on accomadations, locations, launching spots, etc…Should we be making reservations now? Obviously have never done it. Thanks in advance for your help!

I would start by watching some videos of this bite to get the basics down, also if you do a search under my name in reports you will see an annual report except for 09 this year, reason being…fishing was off.

    Thanks

Thanks Calvin, I,ve seen the video, it’s a pretty good sales tool for the plastics which I’m now heavily supplied with! I believe Birchdale is where we would stay if I’m not mistaking. I’ll check out your reports. Thanks for your time, Scott

If you are staying at Birchdale plan on bringing a tent. Most guys stay at baudette, wheelers point or international falls. There is clemetson and one other resort a little closer to birchdale.

Good to know about Birchdale, I’m not staying in a tent!! Is Birchdale where most people launch though? Thanks for the help Mike, by the way, smoke any ribs lately?

Birchdale is common place as that is the best access in my opinion for bunk trailers, if you push over the ice you could land at Frontier or Vidas if open and with a roller trailer. We won’t have many spring seasons like the one shot in the video so be prepared for anything, such as snow, rain, ice, wind, etc. I strongly suggest getting a Canadian Remote Border Pass and Ontario license as there is an border that you cannot cross unless you posess these license. They are extremely cheap compared to the fine.

Any other questions feel free to holler.
