Three of us going up first week of July. Any recommendations on a fisherman’s motel or resort(top-shelf not needed). What end of the lake has the best fishing (Bass, walleye, Pike). I’ve heard that rusty crayfish have changed the lake habitat?

Anyone fish the surrounding lakes for Bass or Pike?

Marjo motel in tower mn. The lady that owns it is literally older than the hills, so have some patience dealing with her, but she is very nice. The casino hotel is also an option.

Yeah, I’ve never had the pleasure of staying at the Marjo, but I’ve talked to that lady and she is a sweet old lady

Another suggestion is the Vermilion Motel in Cook, if you want to stay on the West end

Head of the lake resort on the west side, is kid friendly, nice beach, and has a great bar/restaurant next door

Maybe try googling “lake Vermilion cabin connection”. It’s a private listing of cabin rentals in the area. Worked for me.

Marjo is good and cheap, but no lake access.

You can check and see if Bayview still is renting sleeper units. They have no kitchens, just beds and toilets, but are cheaper and right on Big Bay.
