Boat & Dock question

    Later this summer we are heading to my aunt & uncle’s place near Ely.
    They have a dock in a channel between lakes but it isn’t a no wake zone.
    They have a dock with no poles and it sits low to the water.
    The first year we went I tried my boat bumpers but they ended up on the dock not protecting the boat.
    Last year I brought a couple tires and tried lashing them to the dock but they kept filling with water and wanting to slip under the dock. They sorta worked okay but were a PITA to get tied right so they just didn’t fall under the dock.

    My uncle has a lift for his boat so they don’t have permanently attached boat bumper strips and I don’t want to ask him to add them for the 1 – 2 times a summer we go up there.

    Anyone have or seen creative ideas for keeping the boat from rubbing on the dock when tires and hanging boat bumpers just don’t work that well?

    I would just trailer each night but the landing is about 30 minutes from their place.

    If I can’t come up with anything for this year I will probably just try tying the boat to a tree on shore and the corner of the dock to hold the boat away from the dock.

    Take a look at these;
    mooring whips and dock arms

    I know you may not want to invest that much money but maybe you could make do with a home made version? Possibly running some rope thru some pvc pipe?

    Sea anchor your boat. Don’t even tie to the dock. Tie to a tree and run your anchor out.

    My parents had that same problem about five years ago. They bought a bumper that ties to the boat but it is in a long sheet like thing. I believe it was bought though Overtons. Cabelas or Gander might have something similar to it.
